Clara left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I looked at the broken glass on the floor, and a heavy wave of guilt washed over me.
Kael had lost his parents. He had been fighting his entire life. And I had screamed at him, telling him he ruined my life. I had to apologize. I couldn't just sit here in my room. I had to go find him.
I quickly wiped my face, put on my shoes, and marched out of the mansion.
When I reached the edge of the dark tree line, two massive border guards stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
"Miss Aera, it is too dangerous," one of the guards said respectfully. "The Alpha ordered you to stay inside."
