Why do all the annoying things
only happen to me?
Especially when there’s some
place I need to be.
I checked if everything’s okay
and I locked the front door
Then, the house phone rang
louder than before.
I rushed to answer but I slipped
and knocked my head
To my surprise it was a salesmen
trying to sell me a new bed.
I remember when I had to attend
an important company function
I wanted to leave early to avoid
being delayed at a busy intersection.
But the delay started at home when
I couldn’t find my car key
Then my wife accidently spilled
her hot coffee on me.
The children were late which was
a bad start to my day.
Then I missed the elevator an old
lady caused the delay.
Why do all the annoying things
only happen to me?
Maybe it’s because that’s where
God wanted me to be.
Remember 9/11 when the world
was reeling in shock
The security of America experienced
quite a knock.
Many lives were miraculously saved
that day.
Some say it was luck. No! It was
God who caused the delay.
A certain man couldn’t get his
car started that morning
A lady’s alarm clock didn’t ring
to give her a warning.
A secretary from the building went
home to change her soiled clothes
Another couldn’t hail his regular
taxi for reasons no one knows.
The cleaner was delayed because
of the staffs donuts he had to buy
The express bus wouldn’t stop for
a passenger and he’s not sure why.
A man went to buy band aids for
the blisters from his new shoes
He was so grateful that he was late
when he heard the bad news.
I don’t know how accurate some
of these stories are
Some may be exaggerated and
you’re thinking Ha! Ha! Ha!
But before you think or say Ha!
Ha! Ha!
Ask yourself who brought you
safe thus far?
Recall the times when you were
delayed unnecessarily
It might’ve saved you from
some catastrophe.
In my lifetime I’ve had a host of
annoying things happen to me.
I Thank God for them, for now I
know that’s just where He wanted
me to be.
