“It seems the message has finally gotten through,” she said, her voice dripping with fake warmth. “I supposed losing something she cared about finally knocked some sense into her.”
Okay, another one again. My chest tightened, but this time, something else rose with it. I could feel my wolf lingering just beneath my skin, purring, with a low defiance. I shouldn't call that pain or sadness, it was something sharper. I stood up anyways, I won't let fury get the weight of my other half, I know she felt more like a prisoner in my own body.
