Maya  It was strange to have Michaela working in the herb garden.  The first few days, Maya refused to let Michaela out of her sight, worried the traitor might vent her anger onto the delicate healing plants Maya grew for her apothecary work. If it wasn’t by order of the Alpha, she would never have let another person into her garden – and certainly not someone who’d betrayed their own pack.  But Michaela worked honestly and steadily. She dug and hoed, hefted sacks of fertiliser, and inspected each line of plants for pests so thoroughly that Maya eventually had to tell her to relax her guard.  It’s like she hasn’t changed at all, Maya caught herself thinking as she watched Michaela scale the garden’s old oak tree to cut mistletoe from a high bough.
