Chapter 2: The Alpha Who Claimed Her Without Permission

902 Words
Chapter 2: Taken Without Permission Nyra had barely processed his words— “She is mine.” Before everything changed. A heavy silence fell across the clearing. No one dared to breathe. Not even the wind moved. Nyra’s heart slammed violently in her chest as she slowly lifted her head, unsure if she had heard correctly. Mine? The word didn’t belong to her world. Nothing belonged to omegas. Especially not from an Alpha King like Zayden Blackthorn. The elders immediately dropped to their knees. One after another. Even the guards. Fear spread through the pack like wildfire. But Nyra stayed frozen. Because he was still looking at her. Zayden stepped closer. One step. Then another. Until he was standing directly in front of her again. Too close. Too powerful. Too dangerous. Nyra’s breath caught when his hand suddenly reached forward. She flinched instinctively. But he did not touch her. Not yet. Instead, his fingers lifted her chin slightly, forcing her to meet his gaze. Golden eyes locked onto hers. Cold. Unreadable. Possessive. “You don’t belong here,” he said quietly. Nyra swallowed hard. “I—I do. I’m part of this pack—” “No,” Zayden interrupted. One word. Sharp. Final. It didn’t feel like a disagreement. It felt like a command rewriting reality. Nyra’s pulse quickened. Behind him, someone tried to speak. “Alpha, she is only a maid—” The sound stopped immediately. Zayden didn’t even look back. The air around him thickened, suffocating. Whoever spoke fell silent instantly. Nyra’s fingers trembled. She had seen fear before. But never like this. Zayden finally released her chin, only to crouch slightly in front of her. Now they were eye-level. “Tell me your name,” he said. Nyra hesitated. Her voice barely came out. “Nyra…” A pause. Then his eyes darkened slightly. “Nyra,” he repeated slowly, as if testing it. As if deciding what to do with it. The silence stretched again. Then suddenly— He stood. And in one motion, he grabbed her wrist. Nyra gasped. “W-what are you doing?” she tried to pull back. But his grip was unbreakable. “You’re leaving,” he said simply. Nyra’s eyes widened. “Leaving? I didn’t agree—” Zayden finally looked down at her again. And this time, there was something more dangerous in his expression. “You don’t get to agree.” A heartbeat. Then he pulled her forward. Nyra stumbled as he dragged her past the shocked pack members. Whispers exploded behind them. “She’s gone…” “The Alpha King took her…” “No one takes what belongs to Zayden Blackthorn…” Nyra’s chest tightened as she tried to keep up. “Where are you taking me?” she demanded. Zayden didn’t slow down. “Home,” he said simply. Nyra froze mid-step. “Home?” He glanced at her briefly. And for the first time— Something almost like amusement crossed his face. “Yes,” he said. “Where you belong now.” Zayden did not look back as he led her away from the pack grounds. Every step Nyra took felt unreal, like she was walking inside a nightmare she could not wake up from. The voices behind her slowly faded, but the weight in her chest only grew heavier. She kept glancing at his hand around her wrist. It wasn’t painful. But it was inescapable. Like a chain she could not see. “Why me?” Nyra finally whispered, her voice shaking. Zayden didn’t answer immediately. The wind moved around them as they left the ceremonial grounds, the atmosphere shifting from crowded fear to silent isolation. When he finally spoke, his voice was low. “You were the only one who didn’t look away.” Nyra frowned slightly. “What does that even mean?” Zayden stopped walking. So suddenly that she almost collided with him. For the first time, he turned fully toward her. His gaze dropped over her face slowly, as if studying something no one else had ever bothered to notice. “You didn’t cry,” he said. Nyra swallowed. “Was I supposed to?” A faint pause. Then— A very slight change in his expression. Not a smile. Not kindness. Something darker. Interested. “That’s what makes you dangerous,” he said quietly. Nyra’s heart skipped. “Dangerous? I’m just a maid—” “You are not just anything,” Zayden cut in. His voice was calm. But final. Nyra felt her breath tighten again. She hated how easily he silenced her words. Like they didn’t matter. Like she didn’t matter. But at the same time… Something inside her refused to look away. The moonlight fell across his face as they continued walking into the unknown. And Nyra realized something terrifying. She was no longer being taken to her death. She was being taken into something worse. Something she couldn’t understand yet. Something that had already started changing her fate. Author's Note ❤️ Thank you so much for reading Owned by the Ruthless Alpha! Your support means the world to me.
