What Kind of Friend?

As soon as Lexi heard the voice on the phone her heart dropped, after a few seconds she finally managed to stammer out "I'm Annas best friend, who the h..l are you?" Let me talk to Anna now Lexi yelled. then gruff voice slowly but forcefully said "If you want to ever see your friend alive again you will stop your yelling and calm yourself down" "I will be in contact with you soon if you know what's good for your friend, you, and your two cowboys there will not go to the authorities and will do exactly as I tell you", then the man hung up.

Lexi didn't know how long she just sat there not saying anything Nick and Travis, got up and sat next to her on the couch one on each side of her Nick was rubbing her back while Travis was rubbing her shoulder and arm, none of them spoke a word, as soon as the man had spoken Lexi had put the phone on speaker so that all three of them could hear the conversation, she was glad because she couldn't remember much of what the man had said she was pretty sure it was the shock of everything that had happened, after about an hour, Travis told her to go pack that there was no way under any circumstances was she staying at the apartment by herself that in fact, she was going back to his and Nicks place until everything was settled, Lexi tried to argue saying that she had to stay at her apartment because she had to be there if the kidnapper tried to call, Nick asked if she had call forwarding she did so Lexi had all of her calls forwarded to Nicks cell phone since he was the one that would be staying with her, or as Lexi said babysitting her to be all honest she actually liked the fact, all of her life she was the one that had always took care of everyone it was nice having someone take care of her for a change especially two hunky cowboys, after she packed her suitcase Lexi called her and Annas boss Tom, she explained that Anna had left town to take care of a family emergency, and that she also needed a few days off of work, Tom who was always a jerk started yelling about how he should fire her since she was so incompetent anyway, when actually she was great at her job, Tom just hated that she wouldn't sleep with him like Anna and another coworker, Samantha had, Lexi started shaking wishing she could just quit she hated working under Tom, he was a horrible boss, Just as she was about to cave in, Travis grabbed the phone in a very slow and stern voice he said " listen here you d..k weed I am not going to sit here and watch you make Lexi have a breakdown she already stressed out enough so you have two choices p...k either give Lexi a week off or fire her, but let me know now", Lexi couldn't believe Travis even though she hated working for Tom she needed the money or she would end up being homeless and jobless, she felt horrible for worrying about that with Anna being kidnapped, but she also knew Anna wouldn't be able to live here on just her income, next thing Lexi knew was Travis saying "ok then" and he hung up, he sighed and told her that she was fired but not to worry that he knew a place that was hiring, Nick said "really where would that be" Travis smiled and said "a bar owned by two very sweet and sexy cowboys", Lexi couldn't stop smiling after that, not only was she going to be staying with them for now after everything was said and done she would be working with them d..n she just hoped Anna would be ok.

By the time everything was settled Travis had called his brothers to see if they would take care of the bar that night, he didn't go into details but promised he would fill them in on Sunday when they got together at their mom and dads house for their weekly family dinner, Lexi thought that was honestly the sweetest thing ever, her and her parents never were close neither were Anna close to her family, when six o clock rolled around both Travis and Nick suggested grabbing some take out to take back to their house this time they got Italian deciding that baked spaghetti and salad was just what they needed.

Once they arrived at their house Travis grabbed the food and Nick grabbed Lexis' suitcase while Nick took her suitcase to the guest room Lexi helped Travis grab plates and utensils, her stomach started growling as soon as she smelled the food, all three were silently worried Lexi about Annas safety, Travis and Nick, about Lexi if anything bad happened to Anna, of course, they worried about Annas safety too as any normal person would, but they hardly knew Anna and both men were getting fond of Lexi not just in a s****l way of thinking, but they enjoyed talking to her she was beautiful and smart, a little shy but both were sure they could work that out of her at least they hoped they would get a chance.

After dinner they went to the living room and turned on the news, just to make sure Anna wasn't the top headline, Lexi was extremely happy nothing was said about her best friend, it was almost midnight and still, the kidnapper hadn't called it had been a little over ten hours and not a word, Lexi was so scared that no news was not good news she just wished he would hurry up and call so she would know something, all three of them decided to call it a night, they planned on getting up early and start trying to figure out different scenarios and plans to go along with them, Lexi had to do something, to at least feel like she wasn't being useless then around 4 p.m. they all three were going to work at the bar, Lexi would be waiting tables and Travis and Nick would be behind the bar, that way Lexi would never be out of their sight even though she did wonder if they were going to follow her into the bathroom, she didn't know if that worried her or excited her, she went to sleep thing about how she could be thinking like that with Anna missing, what kind of friend was she? she thought.
