You Can't Do This

After what seemed like forever they pulled into a truck stop and Lexi had to use the bathroom they went inside and found the restrooms after Travis had walked inside to make sure no one was in it they stood outside while she used it then they took turns not wanting to leave Lexi alone at any time, they bought food and walked out the door on the other side of the store Lexi wondered why but then they walked over to another SUV and unlocked it she looked at them and Travis said one of his brothers had brought it while another one drove them there, Lexi nodded and said ok and got in the backseat happy not to be getting squashed anymore by the bags of manure. Nick took the driver's seat and Travis jumped in the passenger seat and they took off Lexi wondered where they were going but really didn't want to know, she had a feeling that it wasn't going to be close to home and that they were going to try to stop her from helping Lexi.

After an hour and a half, they pulled into a motel, it wasn't a Holiday Inn but it didn't look like a roach motel either and she desperately hoped it wouldn't be like Bates Motel. Travis jumped out of his seat and went into the office after about ten minutes he was back with a key they drove to the back of the building so that you couldn't see the SUV from the road they all got out and went into the room it was thankfully on the bottom floor it had a king-size bed and a bedspread that looked clean, there was a dresser in front of the bed against the wall with about a 32-inch television on it, Lexi walked into the bathroom and smiled happy that it was so clean, that was a pet peeve of hers, the guys were sitting on the bed looking at her waiting for her to start asking questions.

Lexi took a deep breath and asked them what the plan was now, Travis sighed and looked at her, and said the plan was to get her as far away as possible from that crazy b*****d, Lexi yelled "What about Anne!" Nick looked down and said we got people out looking for her Lexi gasped "but we weren't supposed to tell anyone that monster is going to kill her" she cried He probably already has with this stunt we pulled, Travis grabbed both of her arms and pulled her around to look at him and said "there was no way we could stay and be spied on if we had we would have never been able to find Anne anyway as soon as we started looking for her he would have called again and tell us to stop without the element of surprise we would not have been able to do s**t except giving him easy access to you" Lexi started crying and said she understood that but she needed to save Anne, Nick looked at her and said "Lexi we well his voice faltered but then he took a deep breath and told her Travis's family already called the police and reported her missing we have friends in the force and already wrote down our statements and left it at the house" so Lexi looked at them and said, "so what your saying is that Anne, is probably already dead" her voice breaking in mid sentence, Travis reached for her but she pulled away, and said I need a shower and I need to think" okay Nick said but don't even think about trying to run off from us we need you."

Lexi stood in the hot water and let her tears run free she understood what the guys were saying but felt like she could have gotten Anne out and maybe killed the evil b*****d so he wouldn't have taken her, but because they hadn't even given her a chance to say or do anything, Anne was going to die if she wasn't already dead Nick had left his phone behind so the monster wouldn't be able to call them, they even had reported it to the police, all it seemed like to Lexi was that all Nick and Travis cared about was her which was nice but no one but her cared about Anne and she felt horrible, she had to do something, what she didn't know when the shower water started cooling down she got out and dried off putting on the used nightgown that Travis's mom had packed for her she must admit the woman had good taste.

Once Lexi walked out of the bathroom both Nick and Travis looked up and smiled hoping she was not as anger at them as she had been, Lexi looked at them both and couldn't help but smile at them knowing that they both did care about her, seeing her smile they quickly grabbed her and engulfed her in a three-way hug Lexi felt so peaceful if only Anne wasn't in danger, they broke away from each other and sat down on the bed both guys facing Lexi, Travis grabbed one hand while Nick grabbed the other, Nick looked into her eyes and told her that they were sorry that Anne was in danger but they weren't sorry that they were protecting her and that would keep protecting her with their lives, she nodded and hugged them both and told them yet again that she understood.

After they broke apart Lexi went through the bag that she had been given, she pulled out a cell phone and asked the guys why they had gotten her one they told her it was just in case she needed it in an emergency if something happened to them, she said oh ok then they helped set it up including putting their new numbers in her contact list when that was done, Travis went to pick up a pizza and Nick decided to take a quick shower Lexi kept looking at her phone a part of her wanted to call her house phone to see if that monster was there and a part of her wanted to just be with the guys and let the police handle it, after about five minutes she realized that she just couldn't do it.
