5 The car ride back to the BnB was almost unbearable. Tim’s stomach did flips as he tried to make sense of everything. No matter how much Ryan had tried to reassure him that what he’d overheard wasn’t true, Tim couldn’t stop hearing the words over and over in his head: “You’re really into that guy? Seriously?” Tim wasn’t naive enough to think that he was a supermodel—those days were long gone—but he’d never entertained the idea that he was unattractive. Sure, he had more skin in some areas these days than he’d like, and the six pack he had once flaunted had lost some of its definition, but none of that would place him firmly in the ugly category—would it?
