Kathleen covered the till while Casey turned her artistic talents to painting the display window with snowflakes. Josh assembled the old train set, running the tracks along the edge of the window display and around the tree that was perfuming the shop with the scents of pine and forest walks.
They decorated the tree using glass balls Jackie had made from a kit during the slow times, and with other ornaments found in the back. By the time Jackie arrived, they were done, and Kathleen stepped outside to greet her and to admire their sparkling, Christmassy window and the little train click-clacking its way along the tracks.
