Roy and Pat spent the next morning wandering around the mall, trying to find just the right baseball glove for Pat’s grandson.
“What are you going to get for Kathleen?” Pat asked as they walked past a jewelry store.
“I hadn’t thought of that,” he said. “We’re just barely civil again.”
“Well, don’t you think she’ll be expecting something?”
“I don’t see why.”
“Well, if Jason and Nicole get back after Christmas, you are going to have to do it alone, and you know the girls will be watching to see if you exchange gifts.”
