Hyerin's POV
Quietly, I listened to him telling me about Ryohui, a girl he happened to help from Woohyun when he was trying to bring her home while she was drunk.
In fact, she's one of the neighbors but they didn't know each other because of busy work. Woohyun, being a playboy tried to flirt with her but she kept avoiding him and Jungkook, my husband being a helpful neighbor had helped her out. But...the problem was should I believe him that they were nothing beside neighbors relationship? She's single, he's alone there. Or I think about it too much?
"I guess, she's beautiful huh. Since he likes her..." I mumbled at last. He raised his eyebrow before his lips curled into a smirk.
"I'm not sure if you're jealous over me or him?" His questions got me a frown.
"Whatever." I said and laid down pulling the blanket up to my chin.
"Jealous? Yes, she's beautiful and cute..." His hot breath sent shivers down my spine as he moved closer to whisper on my head.
I didn't say anything but closed my eyes to sleep. My heart almost exploded with anger or jealousy the moment he said she's cute. How could he admire other girl in front of me like that?
"But we're nothing, neighbor, that's all. I thought you know me better than this, Rin." He muttered wrapping his arms around me. I turned to him and fell completely in his embrace, warm.
"I just want you to trust me. Because I'm always royal to our relationship these years, although we had a strange married life..." He continued staring down into my eyes. I lost in those bright orbs. When it comes to his eyes, I admitted I couldn't stand them.
"But I told you, I don't want that cold relationship anymore."
"..."
"And I just want you to trust me, stand fully as my wife, not only name but also everything like other married couple. I meant, you can be jealous because it makes me realize that you care. And I'm happy to know that you feel jealous now." He tightened his arms as I lowered my eyes down listening to his heartbeat, steady and calm.
"I love you." His word made me smile unknowingly and I guess he couldn't feel it.
"And I wish you feel the same..." He mumbled on my head and I could feel my own heart quickened the beat. Since we got married because our parents, we both didn't experience something like confession and proposals like other couples so it felt new whenever he said those words and I didn't think I have a chance to say it out.
"...Let...me think...I meant give me some time." I muttered and he nodded.
"Ok..."
*********
It was a busy day as usual for Hyerin and Jungkook. Separately, they worked diligently while taking care of their son because their relatives couldn't help them for time being.
"Han-ah, are you hungry? It's time for lunch now." Hyerin asked her son who was playing with Ppalgang on the couch. He looked up, smiled at his mother before putting his pet down.
"Can we eat with Appa, Omma?" He asked approaching his mother's desk and played with the pens. She blinked in thinking before nodding.
"But what if Appa is busy?" She asked lifting him up to sit on her laps and pecked his chubby cheek.
"Then should we go to eat with Appa in his bureau, Omma?" He suggested purely.
"Shall we?"
"Ne, and let's surprise him..." The mother chuckled at his cute offer.
"And what if Appa is not in his office?"
"Er...keurae? Why Appa is not working in his office, Omma?" The conversation between them went on and on until they agreed to go to Jungkook's Bureau without telling him in order to make him surprised.
"Ppalgang-ah, we're going to Appa's bureau again. Are you happy?" Daehan asked picking his pet up as his mom took out a lunch box.
"Let's go." She said taking his hand and they went out of the office.
"Oh, hi, Daehan-ah." As they came out of the elevator a female staff greeted them.
"Annyeonghaseyo, Minhee noona." He bowed and she patted his head.
"Eh, Minhee, I heard you had a blind date, how was it?" Hyerin asked making the girl to blush.
"It's not quite well. I don't think I'm his style."
"Why?"
"We got along during the date but I noticed that he's so cold and neglected."
"Keurae? Then don't bother. You're beautiful and talented, find a good one."
"Ne."
"Then, have a nice lunch."
"Thanks." Then the mother and son took a taxi to police station which Jungkook worked.
As they arrived Daehan ran happily into the place without any fears. He looked excited.
"Oh, annyeon, Daehan. Are you here to see your Appa?" A female asked him smiling as she recognized the little boy.
"Ne."
"And are you by yourself?"
"No, I'm here with Omma." He confidently replied and turned to his mother who walked slowly toward them.
"This is my Omma, Noona." He then proudly introduced his mother to her as Hyerin bowed to the staff who had her mouth drop.
"Hel...Hello, Mrs." She finally said as Hyerin smiled.
"May I know where is Jungkook-ssi?" Hyerin asked softly and she nodded.
"Ne, follow me."
"Thanks." And they walked into a room.
"There he is. And did anyone tell you that you're so beautiful?" Finally, the girl said it and Hyerin just smiled back.
"Thank you."
"Then, excuse me. Daehan, annyeong." She waved and glanced at Hyerin for the last time, admiring her chief's beautiful wife.
"Let's make Appa surprise, Omma." Daehan whispered putting his small finger on his lips. Jungkook was standing there with some staffs, discussing with his hands on his hips, loose tie and sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Woohyuk was the only one who faced the door. He was about to say Daehan's name but he closed his mouth immediately as Hyerin gave a sign not to say anything.
Daehan slowly tiptoed toward his father but Ppalgang ruined everything as he got down from his owner's arms, barked and ran toward Jungkook to tug on his leg, asking for attention. That made Daehan to hopelessly drop his shoulders in disappointment.
"Ppalgang?" Jungkook stopped, looked down before moving his eyes to his son and then his wife.
"Aish, Ppalgang~" Daehan whined walking toward his pet and picked him up before bowing at everyone as they turned to Hyerin in interest while Jungkook stood there, surprised to see his wife in his workplace for the first time.
"Hello, I'm Hyerin, Daehan's Omma..." She started to introduce herself upon noticing everyone's reaction toward her presence.
"Our chief's wife, of course!" Woohyuk said smiling widely.
"I'm Woohyuk, the chief's assistant." He said bowing and she smiled.
"Ah, I heard some stories about you from him too. Nice to meet you." Hyerin said smiling at him.
"Wah, she's so beautiful."
"Our chief's wife is such a goddess."
"No wonder why Daehan is such a good looking boy."
"Heol, perfect family line ever." And more complements from the staffs with a funny line up to greet her until Jungkook had to give them some butt kicks before leading Hyerin and Daehan to his office.
"Wah, your colleagues are so funny." Hyerin said sitting down on the couch, smiling. Jungkook shook his head closing the door.
"Appa, we're here to have lunch with you." Daehan said after giving Ppalgang food. Jungkook nodded sitting down, eyes on his wife.
"Let's have lunch, Daehan is hungry already." She avoided his gaze, blushing hard.
"Thanks..."
"Thank your son. It's his idea." She said preparing the lunch box on the table.
"Appa, are you happy? Surprised? Too bad, Ppalgang ruined everything." Daehan rambled glaring at his dog cutely. Hyerin and Jungkook chuckled seeing their son's action. It was too cute for their heart.
"Gomaweo, Han-ah. Appa surprised and happy so much. Ppalgang didn't ruin it, he just helped you to surprise Appa." Jungkook said hugging the boy as the little boy settled his small body on his father's laps.
"Let's eat then. Here is your food, Han." Hyerin said giving a box to her son and the small family had lunch with their smile.
Happiness emerged among the family whenever they're together. Hyerin noticed herself that she smiled a lots recently. Her eyes showed thankfulness toward her husband and son as she watched them eat and joke around each other. Daehan's dimple became clearly visible every time he talked to his father and Jungkook's smile became to be a laughter whenever his son said something cute and funny in innocent way. Meanwhile, Hyerin's smile appeared more often while looking at father-son interaction.
And there came the time off, lunch break finally ended and Daehan pouted cutely when he knew he had to go.
"Appa, let's have lunch together again tomorrow."
"Ok." Jungkook nodded as Hyerin gave him a 'Are you serious?'-look.
Daehan skipped a head with Ppalgang in his arms while Hyerin had his backpack in her hand and Jungkook carried the lunch box.
The small family was greeted by the staffs here and there while walking out of the office.
"Ouch!" As Daehan turned the corner, the boy bumped into a man who stood there with his hands in his pockets. Jungkook caught his son on time before the poor boy fell on his butt.
"Oh, Sorry?" The man raised his eyebrow up with a smirk while looking at Jungkook. He was the boss from that night.
"Oh, hi, chief. Good to see you here." He greeted with an arrogant manner.
"I just come by to turn my documents in. And she's...your wife? And a son? Wow, interesting. Hello, Mrs. Jeon, I'm Choi Kyuwon, accidentally your husband's wrong suspect." He introduced with a smile of sarcasm. Hyerin felt wrong with him from the first glance, slowly she grabbed Daehan and stepped back.
"Thanks. Then you shouldn't use it out of order or it's not accident anymore." Jungkook warned with a plain smile.
"Thanks for your advice. I wish to get more next time. Then...excuse me. Annyeong, little boy. See you soon, Beautiful." In a flirty way, he winked at Hyerin which she fearlessly gave him a look.
"Let's go." Jungkook said picking his son up and walked ahead. Hyerin sighed following them.
*********
After dropping Hyerin and his son at the company, Jungkook drove off to a building. It looked abundant and empty. His big eyes scanned around for a swift moment making sure no one around.
His heavy steps leaded his tall body into the house through a dark hallway.
He stood in front of a door before knocking it two times and it clicked opened. He walked in to see a group of three guys in a big room.
"Hey, chief." Jimin greeted the chief before turning to his laptop again.
"Hope Hyung is not here yet?" He asked walking toward a big bookshelf.
"Yeah, he said he was followed by a gang." Taehyung replied pushing his glasses up and continued to scan a photo.
"Jin hyung, do you remember a file which contains the former secret agents' profile?" Jungkook asked the one who was busy munching on his pizza with a tablet on his laps.
"Sixth row, second from the left, code 337." He replied without looking up from his tablet.
"Thanks." The chief said looking up to the sixth floor before reaching his hand to grab a file from the shelf.
"What is interesting about it?" Jimin asked closing his laptop.
"I thought I used to see him in a training, at least once." The maknae said sitting on the edge of the table which Taehyung was working at.
"Who?"
"Choi Kyuwon." He mumbled flipping the page as two hyungs came and took a look.
After four pages, his finger rested on a photo profile.
"Jin hyung, code 7071." Jungkook said handing the file to Jimin and walked toward Jin who taking out his laptop.
Jin opened the lid and typed the code in. The chief's clear eyes set on a profile picture on the laptop screen.
"There he is. Dropped out and disappeared during a mission. He used to work with Mr. Oh, Oh HwangIn?" Jungkook muttered an interesting question.
"And also commander Lee Jungok? What is it then? What mission back then?" The chief blinked in thinking as his hyungs turned to look at him with question marks.
"Jimin hyung, check out what exactly that mission means and tell me by tomorrow."
"Ok."
"Jin hyung..."
"I'll check on Choi Kyuwon."
"Good. Taehyung hyung..."
"I'll find every pics for you, Chief."
"Wow, you guys are getting smarter now." He said chuckling.
"Jeon Jungkook!"
*********
Before the dawn, the young chief managed to pick up his son and wife from her workplace.
"Omma, I'm hungry!!! Can I have ice-cream, please?" Daehan shouted cutely after putting Ppalgang down. A soft knock was heard before he poked his head in between the door of his parent's room. Hyerin turned to look at him as Jungkook walked into the closet with a smile, his son was too cute.
"Omma, please." He begged with his puppy eyes at her.
"And take shower after eating, ne?" The mother said and the boy nodded.
"Ne." He jumped happily before running out toward the kitchen.
"Aish, that cute boy." Jungkook muttered under his breath taking off his shirt. On his muscled back, laid many scars from the battles and trainings. He flinched his neck in tiredness, brushing his hair back with his fingers. And he paused his hand suddenly as he felt Hyerin's presence.
"In six years, this is the first time I see your back. These scars..." Hyerin traced her fingers on a long thin scar which laid across from his shoulder down to the back. Jungkook slowly put his hand down to his side as she continued to stare at him.
"Have their meanings. And how worth they took each mission you did? Don't you feel regret for yourself even once?" She asked softly as he turned toward her. Contrast from the back, his front side didn't have scars, toned and firm, totally well built.
"I didn't and will never." He said looking into her teary eyes. She was just shock to see his scars full back.
"I'll never ever let Daehan take your path. It looks so painful." She mumbled staring up into his shaky orbs.
"It's good. I don't want him to take it either." Jungkook sighed taking her hands.
"And now it's time to talk about the lesson you should learn yesterday." His face turned into a teasing one immediately.
"What...what?" She suddenly blushed hard at his teasing.
"You know it, don't you?"
"Aish, it's getting hot here, I have to take..."
"Because you're blushing." He stated stepping closer.
"Stop...stop it." Hyerin stuttered as he pressed her to the closet door while his hand ran up her arm to her neck.
"Jungkook, I have to prepare dinner." She firmly said before he could reach her lips.
"Heol, can't you just act along for once?" He mumbled looking up, hands on his hips, pissed.
She chuckled turning away as he looked at her with his annoying eyes.
"Excuse me then. Eh..." Hyerin moved to grab a towel then she was lifted up by the waist by his hands. He turned, sat her on the table and crushed his lips on hers.
Her hands on his bare shoulders, still shock with his sudden kiss. She relaxed after a few seconds.
She could feel the heat from his body and it made her feel comfortable.
"I just miss you so much." He whispered after breaking the long kiss.
"Is that on your mind all day?" She asked smiling while blushing hard.
"Nope, there're more. Wanna know?" He teased smirking. She bit her lips lowering her head down with her tomato cheeks.
"Byuntae..."
"Omma! Appa!"
