Marcelo Marcelo pressed a hand against his churning stomach and tightened his grip on the stake with the other. Above all else, the one thing he couldn’t do was drop it. Using his left hand to feel his way, he repositioned his weapon for maximum control. There was no point in slipping it up his sleeve as he’d done back at camp. The instant the man saw Marcelo was loose had to be the same instant the stake was driven into him. The question was, how to do it? Marcelo rotated his head to check the edges of the tarp.
