ELARIAN I kept running deep into the woods with no idea where I was headed. I didn’t stop to breathe, nor did I stop to pull the thorns poking at me through the holes in my dress because I was desperate to get away from them. I overheard one of the men talking about using me to get to Aeros, which didn’t make sense because they had claimed to have saved me on his orders. That was when I realized they weren’t on my side and decided to escape. Security wasn’t tight, and the house was too old and rickety to hold someone hostage without proper surveillance, so I easily slipped past the guards and made a run for it.
