Chapter 4
-------------
Today is move in day which is exciting but terrifying at the same time. Whether my new roommate would like me kept floating around in my head. I don't even know their names, their occupation, or their likes and dislikes.
That's what you signed yourself up for I said under my breath.
Once it hit noon, the last of my boxes were packed into my car. The rest of my belongings such as my bed, vanity, and dresser set were set to arrive in about an hour after my expected arrival to my new home. The ride was unenjoyable, it would be nice if I had some company with me, but me being me knew that wasn't even possible.
I used to be a social butterfly, the life of the party but for some reason that all changed. I found myself losing my outspoken personality, my honesty, and instead focused on studying day and night to get to where I want to in life.
As I neared my new home that's when the nerves kicked in to high gear. I quickly called my sister hoping that she would be able to ease my nerves.
"Sky what's up? "a male voice said from the other line.
Expecting to hear my sisters voice I was surprised to hear my brother in law answer instead.
"Hey James, is Becca near you?" I asked.
"Yeah, she just stepped into the bathroom, she should be out soon." James responded.
"Okay I can wait."
"What's going on, did you meet your roommates yet?"
"No, I'm literally parked in the driveway but I'm too scared to leave my car. "I said with a shaky voice.
Just as I said that I could hear my sister ask who he was speaking to.
"Sky, what's going on? My sister asked.
I filled her in and immediately felt at ease by both her and James' words. Just like that I felt confident.
"Thanks you guys, I love you."
"No problem sis, tell us how your roommates are once you meet them" Becca said
"Will do."
---------
Okay Skylar, you can do this. With a deep breath, I got out of the car while taking the fruit basket that has been sitting on the passenger seat. Before I started my journey, I stopped by a grocery store and found this big fruit basket, I thought it would be a good gift to give to my roommates because who doesn't love fruit.
I walked down the snow-covered lawn heading towards the white double doors. Taking another deep breath, I directed my finger to the doorbell, but before I could even press it the door flung open revealing a young lady dressed in all black with tons of piercings and heavy dark makeup.
"Took you long enough, I thought you would never leave that car!" the girl before me exclaimed.
"I'm sor-"
Before I could complete my sentence, I was pulled into a hug."
"Don't apologize, I'm just so excited to finally meet you." The girl said after ending the hug.
"Oh, where are my manners, please come in!"
I nodded my head and followed her into the home. Looking around I could tell they cleaned up the place.
"Have a seat, I can help you with your belongings if you want later."
"No that's okay, but thank you." I said while taking a seat on the couch.
Once sat I had a clearer look at the girl who welcomed me into this home. She had this emo look, what helped me come to this conclusion was that she had a septum piercing, and her ears were littered with countless earrings. I go to say I'm surprised there were no gages.
"So, tell me about yourself, all that I know about you is that your name is Skylar McLarin and that you are 23 years old.
Just as I was going to say something the sound of keys clanking sounded.
"Oh, that must be Mingu, the other roommate... she went out to buy chicken and beer."
The front door opened revealing a short lady about 5'0. She looked to be East Asian with a bobbed hair style.
Balancing at least 3 bags of chicken, and a 6 pack of beer. Immediately I rushed over to help my new roommate out.
"Oh, thank you so much, I can be such a klutz at times. Follow me, let's drop this off in the kitchen." Mingu said.
I followed her to the kitchen and placed the chicken on the beautiful granite kitchen island.
After Mingu placed the beers inside the fridge she took her hand out indicating that she wants to shake my hand.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Mingu but please Min or Ming."
"Of course, my name is Skylar but everyone calls me Sky." I said after we finished shaking each other's hands.
"Please have a seat." Min gestured towards one of the bar stools that surrounded the kitchen island.
"What is your name?" I asked my other roommate.
I've been in the house for close to 15 minutes now and I still don't know the name of the lady with the heavy makeup.
"Oh snap, I forgot!" She exclaimed.
"My name is Victoria, but please call me Tori."
From what I could see Tori is a very bright, bubbly person which is completely opposite of her physical appearance. This is why they say never judge a book by its cover...lesson learned.
"It's so great to meet the both of you, I'm so glad you both are so welcoming." I admitted.
"Yeah, we were nervous at first as well, but meeting you now has lessened our worries." Min said.
"Okay let's eat!" Tori exclaimed.
