7:45am
"Boss, we have an intruder.”
Those were the words that woke Dante from the bed he was sharing with Eleanor at the moment. He jumped right up, half-naked, and threw on some clothes.
“The intruder is downstairs,” Casper added.
“Who is the bastard?” Dante asked in raging annoyance as he buttoned his shirt.
“I think you’d want to see for yourself,” Casper replied as he left.
Eleanor lay there, covering her naked self with the blanket on the bed, scared and confused.
“What's going on?” she asked.
“Just stay where you are; I'd be back,” Dante said without sparing her a glance; something else had his attention now.
He pulled a gun out of the drawer that lay by the bed, making Eleanor squeal. It was like she had forgotten for a second that he was not just a gangster but the chief of them all; the mafia boss of the notorious Hounds.
“Don't move a muscle,” he said in a slightly aggressive tone that sent cold shivers down every cell on Eleanor's skin before storming out of the room. The hairs on her skin stood, and goosebumps crawled all over her.
For more than a couple of minutes, Eleanor sat there frozen. It was as if the last words Dante spoke cast a spell on her, and she couldn't move even if she tried. She was scared to the point she couldn't think anymore.
She soon snapped out of it when she heard the terrifying sound of a gunshot. She was now getting familiar with it after she heard so much of it from the night that began all of this drama. She jumped to her feet and threw on underwear, a pair of trousers, and a tee shirt. She ran to the door and placed her hand on the doorknob, unsure whether or not to open the door and see what was going on outside, or sit on the bed and obey her new master’s orders.
She made up her mind. She was going to open it.
“3, 2, 1-”
The door immediately slammed open.
“Ahh!” Eleanor screamed as she fell to the floor. It was Dante but now he was with a friend, a friend whom he was holding by the neck and was seriously bleeding.
“Who sent you, you vermin?” Dante shouted. He was angry, fuming. The veins on his neck seemed like they would pop any moment if a little more pressure was applied.
The man on the floor was nearly lifeless. He had been clearly beaten up badly by Dante, as his bloodstains were all over Dante.
“Speak up, you fool!” Dante shouted again, kicking the man in the guts, making him cough up more blood on the room floor.
“Dant-” Eleanor tried calling out to him.
“Shut up!” Dante yelled as he turned to her.
Eleanor was startled; she couldn't understand. How was this the same man she had s*x with last night, the same man that took her to levels of ecstasy that she never even knew existed? How had he become a complete beast? The stare he gave her now was nothing like the intimidating one that made her thighs quiver and her mouth thirsty. This was a death stare!
Dante grabbed him by the neck again and said to him, “Since you don't want to be of use to me, might as well delete you.”
“No, don't kill him, please,” Eleanor cried, with tears starting to fill her eyes. She couldn't bear the thought of letting a man die.
Dante didn't reply to her. He pulled the man out of the room and eventually out of his house, leaving an elaborate trail of blood behind him as the man begged for mercy. The foot soldiers said nothing.
Eleanor followed him after almost 5 seconds of contemplating whether or not to.
Dante dropped him by the side of the pool, which was gallantly at the front of the house, took a couple of steps back, pulled out his gun, uncocked it, and pointed it at the man who was now kneeling.
“Say your last prayers to your God,” Dante spat.
“Don't you even think of it,” a voice shouted.
Dante turned to see who it was that was ordering him in his own house. It was a man who had his arm around Eleanor’s neck and mouth and a gun pointed at Dante.
“Long time no see, Dante Alvarez,” the man said with a smirk.
“You cursed bastard,” Dante said angrily. “Let her go.”
“You won't even greet me,” the man laughed.
“Rogan! Let her go,” Dante ordered.
“Not till I leave this dirt hole of a hideout,” Rogan said with a wry smile as he took steps back slowly.
“How did you get in?” Dante asked calmly as he slowly took steps towards him with his hands slightly in the air.
"Take another step, and you won't find out," Rogan replied, c*****g his gun in one hand and pointing it back at Dante.
"You wouldn't dare," Dante boasted.
Rogan pulled the trigger and fired a shot into the air, stopping Dante in his tracks. All of Dante's men raised their ammunition and pointed them at Rogan. Eleanor screamed, with countless tears streaming down her face. She thought this had to be the end for her; she was surprised she survived long enough with all of this surrounding her.
"The next one would be in your head," Rogan replied, keeping his gaze on Dante.
"Tell your men to lower their weapons," Rogan added. "Now!"
Dante signaled for them to drop their guns, and they all did, hesitantly.
"You've gone soft," Rogan laughed. "The Dante Alvarez I know would have killed me anyway. It's this woman, isn't it? She's the reason you've grown weak."
"Let her go, Rogan," Dante raged.
Rogan walked backward with crying Eleanor in his arm till he reached the gate.
"Open the gate," Rogan ordered.
"Give her to me," Dante replied, stretching out one arm while the other was in the air.
"If you make me ask again, I'd leave a bullet in someone's brain," Rogan replied.
Dante stood there for a second looking steely at Rogan, with fiery rage oozing from his pores. He wanted to kill Rogan this instant, but he couldn't risk killing Eleanor. Why did he care so much about her? He couldn't understand himself.
"Open the gates," Dante shouted to his men.
The gates opened slowly, revealing a Hummer jeep waiting behind it. Rogan backed out one step at a time towards the Jeep.
"You're out now. Give her to me!" Dante commanded.
"Why did you think I came here? To say hi? Well, maybe, but now I have to take a little souvenir for myself," Rogan replied, smiling ear to ear.
"Don't you dare!" Dante yelled as he walked quickly towards Rogan.
Rogan raised his gun and let off two shots in the air, stopping Dante in his tracks. The door of the Jeep opened, and Rogan threw Eleanor into the passenger seat after which he got in.
"Thank you for the parting gift, friend; I'd take good care of it," Rogan said as he slammed the door.
The jeep immediately took off, and Dante's men raised their guns and fired countless shots at it, but none were effective to stop it.
Dante dropped to his knees, quiet but boiling. His skin was red hot, and his hands were vibrating in rage.
The Jeep went on until it was out of sight.
Eleanor was still crying, weeping now; she didn't understand what was going on. Who was this man, and what did he want with her?
Rogan now turned to her.
"Oh, darling, don't cry," he said, running his thumb over her cheek, wiping her tears. "You're mine now!"
