Jasmine POV
After school, Sam dropped me at home before taking Grace home and as usual, school was boring just Stella showing her unwanted face in my business every damn time but Grace was always there.
Before you assume what I did wrong, nothing that's what I did. In our first year as seniors, our class' most popular boy Emmanuel asked me out but since I knew how much she was crushing on him, I said no though he didn't listen and has been on my neck since then.
My mom wasn't around when I got home and not that I expected her to be though. My phone went off telling me I had a new message but please, I just said goodbye to Grace she shouldn't be texting me already so I didn't bother checking it but when I did, it was from Asher...good thing I saved his number but why was he texting? It's been more than a week now.
"Maybe he was really a stalker." I thought.
He asked after Grace and if she was okay which I answered yes to. But after a while,he didn't text back and I felt a little bad.
"Did I give him an attitude?" I asked myself as I stared at my phone.
When he didn't respond,I went to the kitchen to find something to eat because I knew somehow my mom would leave something for me there and I wasn't wrong because it was sitting right there in the microwave.
"I love you mom." I said to no one in particular as I put on the microwave.
Just as I was about to start eating,a
message came and excitedly I opened it to see that it was from Asher and my smile widened.
"What was wrong with me?" I thought, but nevertheless opened the message.
"Sorry, I had a class that's why I couldn't respond earlier." He typed and I sighed in relief that maybe I didn't give an attitude after all.
"It's okay, how did classes go? Hope your teachers weren't boring?" I asked and immediately I sent it, I felt dumb..of course all teachers were boring except God sent one and those who were not forced to become teachers but they were few.
"It was okay, and he only spent half of his time so I could leave." He explained and I was a little lost here.
"Why would he leave when other teachers could use the opportunity to complete their syllabus?" I thought.
"What class are you in?" I asked, and just then my network showed me that I have about 8 naira worth of credit left which made me groan.
"I'm in my first year at university." He answered and my eyes nearly fell out of their sockets.
"University! I'm definitely not telling him I was still in high school." I thought.
"That's good, but can we talk on w******p if you still want to talk?" I asked, before my card gets exhausted.
"Sure.come online." He said and immediately,I switched my data on and logged in my account.
There was already a message from him, though it was a simple hi, but my smile widened a bit.
"Sorry, my card was exhausted that was why." I explained and immediately, I saw him typing a response.
"That's okay. So what part are you?" He asked. And he already assumed I was in the university.
"Maybe I should play along? But what if he finds out later?" I thought, debating what I should say.
"I'm not in the university yet." I answered truthfully.
"Okay….what are you doing now?" He asked,I think he gets it that I didn't want to talk about it.
"I just finished eating, what about you?" I asked.
"Hanging out with my friends but trust me, I can barely hear anything they're saying." He said and I laughed.
"Isn't that rude?" I asked.
Surprisingly, talking to him was easy and it was starting to be fun.
"Okay, maybe he wasn't a stalker after all." I concluded.
"They haven't noticed yet but maybe it'd be rude when they do." He said, putting a dark face emoji.
"Okay then. I'll talk to you later because I have to read for tomorrow." I told him.
"Bye then, and don't get distracted by any thoughts of me." He replied.
"You wish." I typed back before logging out so I could concentrate on my book.
After reading for about three hours
straight, I was very tired so I took my bath and I slept off while my books were still open in front of me.
"Hey baby." My mom said, placing a kiss on my forehead even as I slept but I was too tired to reply.
I felt her close my books for me and covering my half opened body so I could be comfortable.
My mom is the most important person in my life, no matter what happens and I know she tries her best to make me comfortable. Apart from owning her own bakery which was doing well, she still works other jobs in between just so I didn't lack anything or miss the fact that my dad...if I can call him that wasn't around.
"Hi mom,how was work?" I asked, thirty minutes later when I woke up.
"It was fine. I didn't want to wake you." She replied.
"It's fine." I told her.
"How did school go?" She asked
"It was uneventful, just the boring teachings and stuff." I replied, because I couldn't tell her about Stella since she didn't do anything apart from talk.
"Ok,help me set the table then." She said and I nodded.
Our house wasn't that big but it was comfortable and had that homey feeling with the smell of home cooked meals everywhere. It was perfect, just like that.
As we ate dinner,I couldn't help but wonder if Asher had texted me yet since I couldn't bring my phone to the table and if he hadn't, what was he doing?
I shut off the thoughts of him and concentrated on my mom and the amazing food in front of me…..just what I needed for now.
