Chapter 2

1145 Words
Asher's POV I had finished a very stressful day in school and my friends didn't help matters as they kept teasing me about getting laid and whatnot. I mean for crying out loud,I was in my first year in the university so getting laid was the least of my problems for now but getting good grades. They were not bad guys, but they definitely knew how to have fun. "You should just go out with that Tiffany girl since she's so persistent." David said as we walked to our room. "She's in part two,it just feels so wrong." I said I was almost irritated with the pictures of the both of us flashing in my head. "Doesn't matter, I'd give it a go if she was interested in me." He told me without thinking twice. "Bad thing she wants me huh?" I asked, trying not to look smug. Our room wasn't bad for two guys living together, for most part it was clean except when David decided to bring his friends home. Yesterday was fun and not because of the party or anything, but the strange number which called me thinking it was her best friend but then again I didn't want the call to end even when she started threatening to harm me if I took her friend captive. My phone rang just as I settled on my queen sized bed.it was another number but definitely not the one from yesterday and my heart dropped a bit but again,I don't even know her. "Uhmm..hello" The voice said, and my heartbeat increased. It wasn't as loud as yesterday but it was her voice, the one that kept me thinking. "Who's this?" I asked, not to sound too excited to hear her voice again. "The...Uhm...you know...the girl from yesterday….that one who thought you were her best friend." She stuttered quietly. "Oh,I told you I didn't kidnap her but when I do, I'll let you know." I teased. "I know that now." She murmured and my smile faltered a bit. I definitely liked the other side of her. "Ok,why are you calling then?" I asked, and I saw David turn to ask me if it was the girl from yesterday since I told him about the call so I nodded. "Turns out I made a mistake with the last number which ended up to be your number instead." She started. I felt like she didn't know how to go about the apology she wanted to give and this was going to be fun so I put the call on record. "Ok…" I said, prompting her to go on. "Just so you know,it was an honest mistake and I didn't mean anything I said yesterday okay?" She asked.she was slowly going back to the way she spoke yesterday and I felt like she was going to end the call soon. "That's okay, but it is surprising you don't know your best friend's number." I said. "I told you it was an honest mistake." She snapped…"why did my mom think it was a good idea to apologise again?" She mumbled and I knew I wasn't meant to hear that. "Because she's nice." I said. "You were not meant to hear that." She grumbled and I realized I still didn't know her name. "Do I get to know your name after all the threatening notes you sent out yesterday?" I asked and I had my fingers crossed hoping she did. "Jasmine." She said.."but don't dare look for me, if not I'll really kidnap your favorite pet too." She said, and apart from having a cute name, she was a spitfire though her threat didn't scare me one bit since I don't even have a pet. "You have a very nice name." I told her, ignoring the other part. "Thank you." She said. "Why was I feeling bad that she didn't ask for my own name?" I thought. "Won't you answer?" She asked. "Sorry, did you say something?" I asked, since I didn't hear what she said at first. "I asked for your name too." She replied. "Oh,my name is Asher." I told her, finally at peace, that she asked for my name. "You have a nice name too,but I have to go to tell my mom I have apologised….wait,I hope you know everything I did was an act of apology?" She asked and I smiled as I remembered the poor attempt of apology she gave. "Well...it was terrible but it was a start." I said and she let out a laugh which sounded heavenly. "It's not my fault, that was the first apology I was trying to mean." She said. "It was a start then and don't worry, you'll get it right next time" I told her. "There won't be a next time because I'll be careful from now on." She said "On another note, were you able to get through to your friend and hope she's okay?" I asked. "Turns out she was calling my number while I was using my mom's number." She explained. "Why didn't you use yours?" I asked again. "My mom seized it,and I think she'll seize it again since she's already calling me." She said and my heart dropped. "Okay then and make sure you check the number you want to call before calling." I advised. "I will, bye." She said and seconds later, the call went off. "For a wrong number, that call was pretty long." David said but I just shrugged. I went ahead to save her number and I don't know why since it wasn't as if I had it in mind to call her again. "You were even smiling, are you sure it was the wrong number?" David asked. "Of course,I was laughing at her poor attempt at an apology." I explained. "You barely laugh at my jokes." He murmured, but I just raised my eyebrows at him. "Stop being childish,it doesn't suit you." I said throwing the pillow I was holding at him though he managed to dodge. "Jerk." He said and I just smiled. I looked at the number I just saved, and I wished I could just call her but I didn't have a reason to... maybe it was just something that happens once a while so I shouldn't read meaning into something that wasn't there but I hoped she called again…. Since I was bored,I just went online to look for things to keep me busy but in between, the thought of the unknown caller….or rather jasmine kept popping in my head. Did she do it on purpose? But she did call to apologise and again she does have a nice voice. This was going to be a very long day…
