Jasmine POV
After I dropped the call with Asher who by the way has a very nice name,I called Grace and started blaming her for something she had no idea about and I promised to tell her everything that happened when we meet in school since I have limited time on the phone for now.
I wore my uniform which was a well ironed skirt and shirt and not to be proud,I looked good with my hair packed in a bun. I took one last look in the mirror before applying lip gloss on my lips and leaving the room.
"I thought you were going to spend all day in your room." My mom said immediately she saw me.
"Good morning mom." I greeted placing a kiss on her cheeks.
Ever since my dad left, it had been just the two of us and we had a very close relationship even though she is strict when need be.
"Hope you slept well? And I've packed your lunch for you so hurry up and get out of my house." She joked.
"I love you too mom." I yelled as I heard Grace's driver horn outside.
"Good morning Sam." I greeted the driver. He insisted we call him that.
"Tell me everything." Grace said and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Good morning to you too." I said, but it was obvious I was being sarcastic.
"Whatever, I had a sleepless night because I couldn't stop thinking." She said but that was a lie.
"We both know that was a lie." I said.
"I don't know what you're talking about." She lied again.
In no time, Sam dropped us at our school so we both came down and waved him goodbye. The school, coastal land was one of its kind,it was for very rich and fancy children and did I forget to mention,I wasn't one of them because I was given a scholarship since my first year here.
"Can you start talking already before I force the words out of your pretty mouth and it won't be pretty." She threatened and if it wasn't obvious now,we both knew how to be violent even if we also couldn't harm anyone physically….how could we when we both stood 5'6ft tall and not that we weigh much too.
"Ok, calm down." I said and told her the conversation I had with Asher and how sexy his voice sounded on the phone.
"What if he's a stalker? Do you think he'd come looking for you and why on earth did you tell him your name?" She fired at once and I wasn't sure which I should answer first.
"I didn't tell him my other name and there are many people bearing Jasmine so it's going to be hard to locate me." I told her and she looked a little relieved.
"But still…"
"We'd be fine, and besides, his voice was too good for him to be a stalker." I said and I didn't know why I was defending him right now.
We made our way to the classroom where we made our other classmates all dressed well...I know we were seniors and needed to be role models to our juniors but not all my classmates understood that.
"Look who the cat dragged in." Stella,my own personal tormentor said.
"Hi Stella, you look beautiful today." I told with a fake smile plastered on my face.
Using her perfectly manicured fingers to run through her hair, she gave me a smile which to me looked as if she was mocking me.
"Of course, do you know how much I spent to look like this?" She asked.
"Good for you, but look at her, she didn't spend anything but she looks better than you'll ever be." Grace said, coming to my defense.
"Hi Grace." Stella greeted as If she'd just noticed her.
"Let's go." Grace said, dragging me along as we left Stella standing there alone.
The two of them never see eye to eye and the reason was simple. The first day I resumed, she made fun of how I look and Grace didn't take it well so since then, they've been on each other's throats.
"Thank you." I told her.
We got to the assembly ground just in time for the praises to begin. Though we were seniors, our principal would have our heads if she catches our loitering around.
Classes began as usual and we became serious, forgetting and putting everything else aside, especially me because I had to keep my score up as a scholar.
"That class was boring,I wonder how you manage to stay awake." Grace said when our first class, maths was done with.
"Well, since you asked nicely, I simply keep my eyes open." I told her which earned me a glare.
"You think I didn't try to keep my eyes open?" She asked, and to avoid her glaring at me again I just kept my mouth shut.
One thing about Grace is that she doesn't need to read all day before she understands what is being taught, unlike me, sometimes I have to read at night before it gets stuck in my head.
The day dragged on slowly as if it was mocking us but finally it was lunch time and trust me,I couldn't wait to eat what my mom prepared.
"I get jealous of you sometimes, especially when your mom cooks." Grace said as we sat down to eat at lunch.
"You don't have to,she sent a cake for you." I told her and her smile widened.
Let's just say in simple English that my mom was good in the Kitchen and hers wasn't the best.
"That's why I love her." She said, but I know she was joking because she finds new reasons to love her everyday.
"How is Caleb?" I asked, changing the topic to her crush and I saw her blush.
"He's fine, he has football practice now." She said,no wonder he was nowhere to be found as he was always hanging around somewhere but none of them had the courage to say anything to each other when it was obvious they liked themselves.
"Okay but hope you had fun at the party?" I asked since at a point they both ditched me.
"Of course.." She answered and that was what she needed before she told me everything that happened when they left me in the company of Caleb's friend Emmanuel.
"Did you kiss?" I asked bluntly because I didn't understand the beating around the bush she was doing right now.
"Well…" She trailed off and I didn't need her to say anything because the blush on her face said it all.
"How was it?" I asked. This was where I have my specialty though I haven't kissed anyone or better still a boy before, I liked hearing the full gist of how it went.
I was proud to say that it was all we spoke about before the bell for the next class was rung.
"Let's get back to the hell called class." I thought as we made our way back to class.
