Chapter 5: Mum and Axel“Joshua, time to wake up!” said my mum, giving me a gentle shake.
I yawned as though I had been sleeping all day and saw her standing next to my bed.
“I got a call from Dr Harding this afternoon to tell me that you were not going back to her for any more sessions. Is that true?”
I looked at my mother with a distant stare as my mind raced, thinking whether I should lie to her or to tell the truth.
“It’s true, Mum. I see no purpose in you paying money for something that isn’t broken or in need of mending. I’m neither suffering the loss of Dad, nor am I lonely and in need of socialising, as apparently you seem to think.”
