"He went after her."
Abel said it like he was still processing it. Which he probably was. We both were.
"He went after her," he said again. Looking at the road ahead. "Nero. The Dark Alpha. Beast Slayer. Rode four hours alone too get his wife back from another Alpha's territory."
"Yes."
"And he couldn't just. Wait."
"Clearly not."
Abel was quiet for a moment.
"Good," he said finally. Quieter. "It's about time."
I looked at the road. The palace gates were visible now. The torches. The guards. The banners.
"Kade."

"When he makes her Luna." Abel's voice changed. Just slightly. "Mother is going to make it very difficult."

"And she'll expect us to. You know."
