Finally I pushed and It opened.
A dark passage. Narrow. Smelled like dust and decades of secrets.
I looked back once.
Nero was in the doorway. Covered in blood. His. Mine. Both.
Staring at me with those gold eyes.
"I'm sorry," I said again.
Then went through and slammed the door behind me.
I Grabbed clothes from the dressing room and Shoved them against the door. Covered the seam.
Like the door didn't exist.
Maybe he wouldn't find it. Maybe—
A roar shook the walls.
He knew I was gone.
Move, Parrot said. MOVE.
I moved.
The passage was pitch black. My hands on both walls. Following them deeper.
Behind me— sounds. Nero destroying the dressing room. Looking for me.
The passage split. Three directions.
Which way?
Left, Parrot said. Always go left in mazes.
