Chapter 4 I got into my car and started to make my way towards my school. I didn't get why they still wanted me to attend. But I didn't say anything and let them have me. It's not like I'm getting a proper high school experience out of it. People just see me want a photograph and autograph and then walk away. I drove through the familiar streets until I arrived at my school. I parked in the car park and then casually got out of my car. As soon as I was in sight of people they raced over to me. I smiled at them. I didn't want them to think I was one of those divas. I greeted everyone and gave them a picture and autograph I was also swarmed with questions asking what I was doing here. Well, I do attend the school, don't I? People started to walk away and I decided to enter the school. People in the building were whispering and giving me stares in awe. I then spotted a few familiar people. My old best-friends. I mean my ex-best friends. They stared at me with awe as I walked to my first lesson. I never bothered to learn my timetable because I knew I was going to forget it so I just carried it with me. I entered the classroom and the teacher stared at me. "L-Lizzie? You're here?" She said. I nodded. "Yep Miss..." I trailed I had forgotten her name. "Miss Doven and what are you doing here?" She said. "I attend this school, Ma’am," I said. "Oh yeah... I never thought you would drop in..." She said. "Well, I do have to finish high school don't I Ma’am?" I said. "Oh yes well why don't you settle yourself in a spare seat and we could get this lesson started." She suggested. I nodded and sat in a seat in the front not asking if anyone sat there. I played with my fingers not looking up and I could feel a shadow hovering over me. I looked up to see that it was Caleb. My Ex-boyfriend. When I became famous he cheated on me saying that I would've done that. I was sad and heartbroken, yes but I wasn't in love with him so I saved myself from the heartbreak it could've caused me. "Lizzie." He said. "Caleb," I said we locked eyes. As we did I remembered every moment I had with him. Every special moment. But I knew good things don't last long. Or maybe it is just me. "It's great to see you," He said. "Yeah..." I trailed not sure on what to say. "Look Lizzie I'm sorry about what I did. I was stupid and I didn't mean it." He said pleadingly. He looked as if he meant everything he said. But I knew it was all an act. He wanted to use me for who I was I could see that through his facade. "You did what you did Caleb the past has gone," I said. He looked kind of relieved. "Does that mean you forgive me?" He said hopefully. "Yes I did forgive you but that doesn't mean that I want us to be back with you. Sorry." I said and then got off my seat and went to another, figuring that it was his seat that I was in. The lesson passed and I got glances from him and stares from other people. Several people tried to talk to me through the lesson but it didn't work out successfully for them. The lesson past and as soon as I was out of the room the corridor was filled with people who wanted to see me. As soon as I was in sight of them. I heard cheers, people shouting my name. They were fans. I loved my fans and loved that they supported me. I also loved meeting them. I gave them a half-hearted smile and then was swarmed by lots of people. People tried to touch me, not in a bad way but in the way that they touch you and never want to wash that hand again. "Lizzie you are absolutely amazing I love your songs! I feel so happy meeting you! I can't believe it." A girl said to me. I smiled at her. "Well, then it's a pleasure to meet you," I said. She beamed happily. And then the next person approached. "OMG they weren't lying you are actually here! I am such a big fan! I can't believe I am meeting you c-can I have your autograph?" The girl said. "Sure why not?" I said she gave me her pen and textbook and I signed it, she then happily walked off. "Oh my god. You are Lizzie! I love you! You are amazing and hot and amazing did I mention hot...?" A boy said to me. I smiled at him. "Thank you. I love you too I love all of my fans." I said truthfully. I was feeling happy being surrounded by my fans/schoolmates. But obviously, that didn't last long. "She doesn't love you. She is just saying that to keep her innocent and sweet facade." A voice sneered. I looked and I saw that it was Marissa. She was my best friend. I guess things changed. After I got famous and spent less time with them they started to hate me and not understand what position I was in. One day she and all my other friends betrayed me and left me. The only friends I have are Tony, Mark and Johnny and they don't know much about me. "I'm sorry then if I am maintaining something I have. And I do love my fans it's something I don't think you would understand. I don't think you'll last a second being me. And that's not just being famous. I don't know what I did for you to hate me so I'm sorry. And I've got a lesson to go to." I said and then the bell rung. She glared at me as I walked off. I didn't say it harshly. I said it reasonably so she could take my words any way she wants. * The lessons until lunch had its own drama. During the course of one lesson, one guy ran into the classroom to me and then went on his knees for an autograph. It was weird because the teacher was just about to show the class something and then he comes in as if it was what we were meant to be shown. I made my way to the cafeteria with a massive group of people following me. I was literally treated like royalty. It was sweet but I would rather be independent. I was just about to walk in when there was an announcement. LIZZIE MCGAUGH CAN YOU PLEASE REPORT TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE IMMEDIATELY. The speaker boomed. I stopped in my tracks confused. What did I do? Or does he just want to meet me? I sighed and then made my way to the office still with a lot of people following me. I was told to go straight in and I did. I walked in and sat myself down on the chair. "You called sir?" I said. "Ah yes, Lizzie." Mr Peterson said. I obviously remembered his name. "Is anything the matter sir?" I asked. "Well, Lizzie it has come to my attention that your visit here has made the school crazy." He said. "Well, sir I am famous aren't I?" I said. "I know but it has disrupted the way of the school. People could get hurt if no one is being careful," he said. "I understand that sir," I said. "Lizzie I am sorry to do this but I am going to have to ask you to leave this school." He said. "How else am I going to have to graduate?" I asked. "Well, you already do online courses so you are going to have to stick with that. I am really sorry to do this but I have to look out for the safety of this school." He said. "I understand sir, is that it?" I asked. "Please don't sue me." He said. I felt a smile play on my lips. "Don't worry sir I won't so shall I leave now or at the end of the day?" I asked. He thought for a minute. "Whenever you want." He said. "Thank you, sir," I said and then without saying goodbye I left his office. I decided to leave now figuring that it would be harder later because more people would want to meet me. * I arrived home and sat down on the couch. I sighed. Now, what do I do to pass time? I didn't really have any friends apart from my band and they did their own thing and the only other people I talk to are Marco and Elise. But Marco is at University and Elise is at her job. I sank deeper in my seat. Fame always brings loneliness. Success is as ice cold and lonely as the north pole. Quote from Vicki Baum. I guess that's true.
