Chapter 5 It had been two weeks since I had met Maria so I had had to go meet her again with my band to see who has gotten the headliner. I wish I get it but if that Shane guy gets it I wouldn't mind it would just mean that he deserves it. I waited in the waiting room this time alone. I had come a little early because I had nothing to do. I sat on one of the couches and hummed to myself waiting for someone to arrive. A few minutes passed and someone arrived I turned my attention to them and smiled. It was Mark. "Hey, Mark, what's up?" I asked. "The sky." He said. I groaned he knew that annoyed me. I gave him an exasperated look. "Jeez, Liz hi and I'm great you?" "I am alright I guess," I replied glumly. "Yeah sure. I know there is something wrong and Liz it looks like it's killing you. You need to tell someone. Anyone." He said worriedly. "There is nothing wrong Mark. You are just imagining things." I said. Avoiding eye contact. "Look at me in the eye and tell me there is nothing wrong then I'll believe you." He said. I sighed. "You are not going to leave me alone are you?" I asked. "Nope. Not until you tell someone. Don't you have any school friends or something?" He said. My heart hurt slightly. If only I did have school friends. I only have three friends. That's only Mark, Tony and Johnny. "Urr... What's wrong is that my principal to the school I went to kicked me out for being too disruptive whenever I go. I guess that has got me down?" I said. He didn't notice, lucky the last part I phrased as a question. "Really? I am so sorry Liz is that what's wrong? Wait I guess it is something else. But you are too damn stubborn to let anyone know or in. Why don't you talk to your parents about it?" He said. I gulped. My parents. Sometimes I felt guilty for lying to my band about my parents. I told them they lived out of the country for some work and that they were business people so they didn't come often. "They are busy and stuff you know with the business and things," I said quickly. I hated lying. "Uh huh but just speak to someone. And I wanted to ask if you were going to get an apartment you know since you are now 18 and stuff." He asked casually. "Erm, I'm still thinking about it," I said. To be perfectly honest the thought wasn't even in my mind. I guess I'll have to think about it. "Oh okay if you do then I do know some apartments that you might like." He said. "Thanks, Mark," I said gratefully. "Hey, guys," Johnny said and then walked to and sat on the arm of the couch opposite me and Mark. "Hey, Johnny," I said. "What's up?" Mark said. "Well I was with this really hot chick and then a remembered the time and I was like s**t! But I am happy I left her she was getting too clingy." Johnny said and then shuddered. "Johnny when you are going to grow up and stop sleeping around?" Mark asked. "Not going to happen I have too much fun," Johnny said. "Oh, so you have fun sleeping with whores? I wouldn't be surprised if you had STDs. You know you are going to find a girl one day who is going to whip you into shape." I said. "Thanks, a lot Liz! And yeah right. When that girl comes you'll be the first to know." Johnny said. "Hey, guys what am I missing?" Tony said and then sat next to Johnny. "Johnny and his man-w***e ways. He doesn't think that a girl would come one day and whip him into shape." I explained. "I am not a man-w***e!" Johnny said. "Sure Johnny sure," I said. "Well if Johnny finds his 'girl' we should tell her about every little fling he has told us about," Tony suggested. "Yep and then she would have to think twice before going out with him," Mark said. "Then he will beg her to be with him," I said. "And he shall say his unconditional love for her!" Tony said. "Guys seriously that is not going to happen! I could get any girl I want!" Johnny said. "That wouldn't last forever you know," I said. "Miss Parks would like to see you now." The secretary said. I glanced at the time and it was exactly 5 o clock. I nodded and then headed for her office. Shane was already in there with his band RSD. When did they come? I shrugged it off and then sat down my band stood behind me. RSD were sitting next to Shane who was sitting down on the chair next to me. "Okay, now that we are all here I am able to reveal who has the headliner. It doesn't mean whoever gets the headliner is the better act it just means that they would most likely make the tour more successful. I don't want you guys to hate each other on my decision okay?" Maria said. "Sure thing Maria. We are all in the same company so we are all family so if we do end up hating each other it would just be like family hating each other we can't hate each other forever!" Johnny said. I cracked a smile at his little speech and so did the rest of my band and RSD only Shane stayed the same. "Okay, Johnny I hope you mean what you say and I don't want any arguments. You guys understand." She said an then gave everyone a hard look and then carried on. "My decision and the company's decision is that the headliner goes to Lizzie and her band Swee-" "Yes! I knew we were going to get it!" Tony said cutting Maria off. "Tony, can I carry on?" Maria asked annoyed. Tony nodded and she proceeded. "So the headliner goes to Lizzie and her band Sweet Seduction. And Shane you have the second act with your band RSD. I'm sorry but my decision is made." I could feel Shane angry from beside me. "Maria I am sure we are the better act. How could it go to them? Her?" Shane said. His voice was filled with venom and it affected me. Why does he hate me so much? I haven't done anything, have I? "Shane it is my decision so you better keep to it. If you don't you aren't going to be on the tour, do I have myself clear?" Maria said. Shane sighed angrily. "Maria if he wants it so much he could have it. I don't mind..." I trailed quietly. I didn't know what I was doing. I just didn't want him to hate me. "No Lizzie you are going to be the Headliner the only way I would change my mind is if your sales go down drastically. Which I know wouldn't happen." Maria said to me softly despite the hard voice she was using on Shane. Maria always had a soft spot for me she was the only one apart from my siblings and Kaitlyn who know about my parents. "I see that I can't do anything in my power to get the headliner then I guess I am going to have to endure being on her tour," Shane said making me flinch again. "Okay so now that we know that who has what I am going to tell you who the first act is. It's a band called Blazing lights. They have two lead singers who both play the guitar and they also have a bassist and drummer. They are newly found so I expect you to help them whenever they need it. The group consists of a female singer called Trisha Sparks and is 19, the male singer is called Marcus Grady who is 20. The bassist is Jacob Samuels who is 21 and the drummer is Charlie West and is 20. They were already together when we found them." She said. I nodded. "Anything else?" I asked politely. "Yes, there is. I have a fundraiser show coming up in a few weeks so I have decided to let all three acts participate singing their own songs and covers. But all bands are going to perform one song together and it has to be written by recorded within five weeks which is more than enough time. I have arranged for you all to accommodate the boarding house. It would only have you guys in there for the meanwhile you have to move in by Thursday which gives you four days and each band have only three rooms so two will have to share. That is all, for now, do any of you have any questions?" Maria said. Great, I just came home two weeks ago and I have to move back out! Oh well, at least I didn't unpack all my stuff yet. "When is the fundraiser?" Shane asked. "Two months but we need the song beforehand," Maria replied. "When do we meet Blazing stars or lights or whatever?" Johnny asked. "On Thursday," Maria said. No one else said anything. "I guess we should go now..." I trailed. "Yes, you shall bye and I shall meet you on Friday at the boarding house," Maria said. Everyone muttered their replies and then left her office. "Lizzie, how come you just gave the headliner like that you have wanted it since I've known you!" Mark said. I shrugged and thought about the answer. Why did I? "I don't know. I guess he just hates me so I thought if he had it he wouldn't." I said. "Maybe he's just jealous. And who cares! We have the headliner!" Johnny said happily. "Yeah, we should go out and celebrate!" Tony said. "I'm only 18 guys." I reminded him. "Lizzie, I have never seen you drunk. Lighten up it would do you good." Johnny said. I thought for a minute. "Okay but only a couple of drinks," I said firmly. "No way Liz I will make sure you get wasted!" Tony said. "I'll like to get home tonight," I said. "Fine, fine, fine. But one day I shall get you wasted." Tony promised. I rolled my eyes at him. "Okay, I'll meet you at the bar. Just text me which one. I want to go home." I said. They agreed and said goodbye and I left the building and headed for my car. I then noticed that Shane was next to it. But he was just going to go into his car which was next to mine. He noticed me and gave me a glare. "Lizzie," he said as I walked passed him. I turned to him. "Yes, Shane?" I said politely. What could he possibly want from me? "You are going to regret getting the headliner. Mark my words," he said and then got into his car and sped away. * I entered the bar with Mark. He got me in without me showing my fake ID. The music blared in the backgrounds as we walked in between the people. I then saw Johnny and Tony. "Hey, beautiful I'm sure we haven't met before the names Johnny so if you need someone to accompany you home I'm just the guy," Johnny said flirtily to me. Oh my god! How could he not recognise me? I looked down at my outfit. I wasn't wearing anything slutty or skimpy. Just tight, dark jeans which emphasized the figure of my legs. A white, sparkly top which showed half my back and was fitted by my waist otherwise loose but hinted what was underneath. My hair was straightened and pinned up showing half of my neck. And then slivery eyeshadow. I didn't really look like myself, my sister had a little too much fun dressing me up. I saw Tony laughing and Mark too. At least Tony recognised me. "It's me, Johnny!" I said. He stopped smiling at me flirtily and looked at me shocked. "Lizzie you look absolutely..." he trailed. "It's a little too much, isn't it? I told Elise not to go overboard." I muttered. "No Lizzie I think you look amazing. Extremely hot. If you weren't the lead singer of this band and kind of my boss you would be accompanying me tonight." Johnny said and then winked. I rolled my eyes at him. "I agree you look sexy you are going to have to be on the lookout I can see many guys wanting to put their hands on you," Tony said. I turned around and saw what he meant. Great. "That's going to be a nightmare. And it means when I want to dance I am taking on of yous with me so you guys better not ditch me." I said. "No problem Liz. We will look out for you." Mark said. "Okay, guys enough with the chit-chat! Let's drink!" Johnny said. * After a few shots, I took Mark with me to the dance floor. I was going to be careful with what I drank because I seriously need to get home tonight. I danced with Mark and ignored the lustful looks I was getting. No guy approached me because I stayed with one of the guys. "Lizzie, what did Shane say to you when two were by your car? I'm sure I saw you two talking." Mark said. "Oh yeah well he just said that I would regret getting the headliner and drove off. I don't know what his problem is with me." I said. "Well anyways you are too good for him. He can go f*ck it." Mark said. I sighed. "For once I may have to agree with you," I said and let the rest of the night continue. If I'm out partying I might as well enjoy myself.
