The rain poured down relentlessly in thick sheets, obscuring Kaliyah's vision. This didn't stop her though. She pushed herself to run faster, fear driving her, terror choking her. She had pulled on the wet dress the moment she escaped from the cottage. Occasionally, she would cast fearful looks behind her, making sure Zain wasn't chasing after her. After what seemed like hours, she collapsed tiredly to the ground. Her chest burned with exhaustion, and lungs protesting for air. She crawled up to a tree and leaned against it, breathing hard. The rain had lessened, and it fell in slanted showers now. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the sky lit up with lightning flashes once in a while.
