A sharp knock jarred Kaliyah from sleep. She rose abruptly, thinking someone was trying to break in again. But the knock sounded again and she finally relaxed. A quick glance at the clock told her it was past noon. She had overslept. The knock sounded a third time and she hurried to the door. "Who's there?" She asked, leaning her ear against the cold wood. "Kaliyah, it's me, Betsy." The inn keeper responded from the other side. Hearing the familiar voice, Kaliyah dragged the sofa away from the door and opened it. Betsy was standing on the other side with a warm smile, holding a tray of food. "Hello Betsy." Kaliyah smiled back and stepped aside so the woman could enter. "How are you feeling? You missed breakfast, and I figured you'd still be asleep. So I brought you some." K
