💚 A JOURNEY TO LAGOS 💚 📖 CHAPTER EIGHT Four weeks after Abby had changed schools, she was being monitored by someone without knowing. One day, someone decided to frame her. Stella suddenly said her necklace was missing. Everyone knew how important that necklace was to her. Stella kept asking everyone if any of them had seen a necklace with a fake rose pendant. Stella said, “That necklace was given to me by someone special, who took his time to get it.” Her classmates told her she had probably misplaced it, but she insisted that she had seen it the previous day. She had only taken it off before going for her swimming class. A classmate said, “Could someone have taken it?” They all began to murmur. The class prefect said it was impossible because they were all rich. Tina, one of Stella’s followers, said they had a newcomer among them. Everyone turned to look at Abby, who was eating a bag of Minimie. She looked up and was horrified by the number of people looking at her. Abby asked if anything was wrong. Victor walked in and asked what was going on because everyone seemed tense. Stella went to Victor and pointed at Abby. “She stole the necklace you gave me!” Victor chuckled and looked at Abby, who raised her hands in confusion. Victor asked Stella why she thought Abby had taken it. Tina said she had seen Abby take the necklace from Stella’s bag. Stella gasped in shock and told Abby she could have just asked her for the necklace instead of disgracing herself. Abby asked why she would take someone else’s property. After much commotion, a classmate suggested searching Abby’s backpack. Abby refused and told them they had no right to search through her bag. Anna turned to the classmates and told them to see Abby’s behaviour. Why would she not allow them to search her bag? Abby told them she did not even wear jewellery, so why would she take it? Stella insisted that Abby was probably jealous of the necklace because Victor had given her one. Abby told Stella to go and get a checklist because she was supposed to know Victor had given her the necklace. Victor said he knew because he had given Stella the necklace on her birthday. Richard asked Stella to check her bag thoroughly. Her bag was searched, only for the necklace to be found in a very obvious place. Stella did not know what to say. Everyone turned to look at her, and she quickly covered her mouth. Victor told her to explain herself, but she kept mute. Everyone started criticising Stella. She shifted the blame onto Tina and said Tina had told her she had seen Abby take the necklace, so she did not bother to check her bag. The classmates told Tina to always confirm information before jumping to conclusions. Stella told Abby it was just a misunderstanding and asked her to return to her seat. Abby stood up and pulled Stella back. “Is that all you will say?” Abby asked. Stella looked at her and told her that was all. Abby raised her hand to slap Stella but stopped midway. Stella shivered in fear. “If no one can say it, I promise you, no one will go scot-free for this,” Abby said. “For once, you had better stop to reset that brain of yours!” Victor held Abby’s hand and told her not to hurt her palm. Abby laughed and let go of Stella. Victor connected his phone to the projector and played a video of Stella putting her necklace in Abby’s bag. “Once everyone knows she’s a thief, she should be kicked out of this school. I won’t let her take Victor from me. She’d rather leave him for me than me leaving him.” Everyone turned to look at Stella. She was so embarrassed that everyone gathered around her and began to criticise her. Abby left the class in annoyance, and Victor followed her. 💚 To be continued… 📖
