I raised an eyebrow at her and waited. She stared at her lap and I could've sworn she whimpered. "Its the..." She whispered her response so quietly that I couldn't even catch it. "I couldn't hear you Dezeray. Speak up." She looked at me, fear shining in her eyes. I swear if she says Kiax.. "Its the Kiax family." She mumbled but I caught it. I sighed. "How much?" She looked shocked that I barely seemed to care. "How much what?" I rolled my eyes, innocent is dumb. "How much do you owe?" She stared at me, debating answering. Eventually she caved. "He wracked up a debt of nearly 10 million.." I winced a little at her words. We didn't let debts that high and unpaid live very long. Her father is on deaths doorstep and they didn't even know it. "I had to sell my car and a lot of our things, but I've only managed to pay off about half a million dollars so far." She looked at her lap again. She has been working for the club for a year or so. That's probably why he isn't dead yet, she paid a substantial amount within the first year. But the odds arent in her favor. I sighed and rested my forehead on the steering wheel. "Are you okay?" Her voice cracked and I could tell she was on the verge of crying over the situation. I looked at her. "I can help you. My parents left me with a lot of money so ill help. Ill get you a new car too so you can drive yourself, or you can keep getting rides. Its up to you." She blushed, embarrassed and glad I think. Im not sure, she is slightly difficult to read. "I couldn't..." I stopped her from saying any more. "Im going to help because I like you and we take care of each other at the club. The car is your choice. The debt, ill help with either way. You can have what I make at the club as I don't need it. Tell me about your housing situation." I left no room for protest so she just accepted it and told me. "I live with my dad and little brother. Its a small apartment. Two bedroom. Its on Massix street." I froze for a moment, thinking. I nodded. Its a bad neighborhood and the apartments are disgusting and run down. They are falling apart really. I planned on rebuilding that area through Carver industries. "How much do you pay to live in that hellhole?" I pulled out of the parking lot and began to drive to her street. It was a half hour drive from the club to her place. "I pay $700 a month in rent. $200 for water and $400 for electricity. $60 for wifi for my brothers schooling, and $150 for lousy cable. I put $200 away for clothes and other things we need." Damn $1710 a month to live in hell. A bit pricy especially since that's a poor area. And that isn't including their phone bills. "I take it you get food stamps?" She just nods in response then tenses. "Crap I haven't gone shopping yet this month!" It took everything in me not to laugh. I stopped at a red light and looked at her. I can take you shopping tomorrow but I have a condition." She looked at me hopefully and nodded for me to continue. "I have this apartment that I rarely use. Its big enough for two families to live there comfortably and its only 15 minutes from the club. Let me take you and your family there." She stared at me shocked. The light turned green and we were off again, the car silent other than the AC blowing cold air. I let her stare at me speechlessly as I drove. She was debating my help, I know, but I didn't really care what she decided. My mind was more on how f*****g cold I am. My n*****s were hard as f**k that it kinda hurt. Jesus christ. I glanced at the AC settings momentarily but it was my normal setting so my situation was odd to me. My mind was literally on my n*****s the whole damn ride. Dezeray stayed silent the rest of the ride, debating my offer, so it was easy for me to get lost thinking about it. When I pulled in front of her apartment, we sat in the car for a moment. I actually saw a couple teenagers smash a car window and rob it. They tried to steal the car but idiots didn't know how to hotwire properly. I nearly laughed but kept composed for Dezerays sake. She looked lost, like she had experienced a massive trauma and has PTSD. I watched her curiously. "Dezeray?" I didn't touch her because if she does have some kind of PTSD and she is having a flashback or something, that could be very dangerous. She turned her head slowly to look at me. "You going to accept my help?" She took a moment before nodding. I gave her a warm smile and she visibly relaxed in her seat. Something was up with my little kitten. Something that ran deep. Dangerous. It was like a lure. I want to know more about this mysterious princess. I took her hand in mine and rubbed her hand gently. "You're really an angel you know?" I laughed a little, if only she knew. "Go on inside and pack your clothes. Have your family do the same. Ill be in in a moment to help, I just need to make a call to the receptionist of the building to make sure the apartment is clean and ready for you guys." She smiled and nodded before getting out of the car and going into her place. I grabbed my phone and dialed the number to the manager of my apartment building. Ring. Ring. Click. "Hello, this is Maddox, Manager of Carver Towers. How may I help you this evening?" I snorted a little at his polite phone voice. Maddox looked and sounded like a goon in person despite that he was a sweet guy with no criminal history. "Mad, Prepare my penthouse suite. Ill be there soon. A friend will be staying there. Do NOT identify me when I show up. You will call me Miss Quinn when I show up understand?" I spoke firmly into the phone, my business voice. "Oh yes yes ma'am. I will do that immediately. Is that all Miss Carver?" I paused to think if there was anything else. "No, that will be all Maddox. Thank you." I hung up and hopped out the car. I saw the hoodlums eyeing my car. It looked fancy compared to the other cars on the street. I crossed my arms and cleared my throat to get their attention, giving them a bone chilling glare. They drooled over my attire for a moment before noticing my glare. "Touch my car and I will kill you. Understand?" I spoke coldly. They weren't near me but Im 100% sure they heard me clear as day. They nodded quickly, their fear bringing a smirk to my face. I watched them run away before I went into Dezerays apartment. It was more vile than I anticipated. It smelled of smoke and liquor. The walls were a nasty dark brown color. They were peeling, falling apart. They kinda looked like wet cardboard honestly. Walking in, you enter the living room. The couch had a fat drunk old man on it. He was watching some television show with a beer in hand. He is balding but has a thick beard that clearly hasn't been cared for. I cant believe im going to let that disgusting thing in my car. His shirt clearly hadn't been changed in days and it did not fit him in any way. He didn't even acknowledge I was there, he just sat on his piss stained couch in his nasty ass food stained shirt. I groaned at the sight. He smelt like a rotting carcass. Hell no. He isn't coming. I walked to the rooms, the man ignoring the world outside his beer and TV. I found what seemed to be his room by the stench and quickly turned away. I found Dezerays room, she wasn't in it but her little brother was. I watched him pack. He looked to be around 14 or 15. He noticed me when he turned to grab something. "Hi. You must be Ray Rays friend that's helping us. She is in the bathroom grabbing our stuff." I smiled and nodded at the boy. He seemed a bit mature for his age. Reminded me of Dex. "What's your name?" He continued to pack both of their clothes into some plastic grocery bags. Guess they are too poor for suitcases. "Its Mason" he shot me a quick smile. I walked over and helped him to pack their things because I swear if I stay here any longer I'm going to throw up. "Im Quinn. How old are you Mason?" He glanced at me a couple times, trying not to get distracted by my boobs which I found amusing. "Im 14. I start high school this year." I nodded, "That's cool, anything you're looking forward to? Have a school picked out? Or any programs you want to go into?" We finished packing and he stared at my boobs now he no longer had a task to focus on. "Uh no school picked yet but I want to do the medical program and the culinary program, keep my options open." He muttered and I snickered a little. "Oh so you like to cook? And you're interested in medicine?" He nodded in response and I shook my head, snapping my fingers in his face to get his attention. "Eyes up here kid." He visibly blushed and turned away, its cute how much they are alike. Dezeray came in the room just in time to see her brothers embarrassment. She laughed and brought in a dirty white duffel bag with personal items in it. Laptops, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, chargers, photos, books, pretty much everything they would want to take with them. I smiled as she hugged her brother after setting the duffel bag on the bed. Once she let him go, he added a few things he wanted to take with to the bag. "Hey Dezeray, Im sorry to break it to you but there is no way Im letting your father in my car. He smells and looks like he hasn't bathed in years." Dezeray gave me a sad smile. "He was never going to come to begin with Quinn. I can't keep taking care of him. Its killing me. Im 20. I should be living life. But I've had to take care of my dad and Mason since I was 10 and mom left us." I hugged her. Its what she needed and nothing I could say would help. She buried her face in my neck and sobbed. The man on that couch is a dead man either way. She sniffled and pulled away. I wiped her face and got another sad smile. "He isn't long for this world anyway. Either his liver will kill him from all the alcohol, or Kiax will come for him. This way, at least Mason is out of danger of getting killed." She seems strong but I know all she wants to do is break down. Her eyes betray her. I nodded and rubbed her arm, noticing how Mason's body slumped as he heard our conversation. I doubt he cared about his dad seeing as it looks like his dad didn't care in the slightest, but he didn't wish him dead. I walked over to Mason. "You okay kid?" He rolled his eyes when I called him kid and nodded. "Yeah Im finished too. Can we please leave now?" I nodded. "Need me to carry anything guys?" They both shook their heads and I nodded, walking out to my car and waiting for them. They brought everything out and put it in my trunk in just two trips, I was leaning against my car the whole time. They said goodbye to their father and got in the car. Mason was just as surprised and enthusiastic as Dezeray was when she first got in. It made me laugh. I started my car and began the drive to Carver Towers. "So I kinda have a car parked in the parking structure of the building because I left it there last time I stayed in the apartment. A friend had picked me up and I left the car there. If you want ill give you the keys." I kept my eyes on the road, not even glancing at the two who surely had surprised looks on their faces. "What kind of car is it..?" Mason asked, curiosity in his voice. "Its a black Aston Martin Victor." I heard Mason gasp. Damn I was hoping neither of them knew much about cars. "That car is worth nearly 3 million dollars." I heard Mason chime from the back seat, I sighed as I noticed Dezeray tense in the passenger seat. I groaned internally as I stopped at a red light. "I cant be responsible for that car if I crash it." Dezeray mumbled more to herself but I still answered, "You can take this car. Ill take the Victor. It will be fine." I rubbed my thumb over the back of her hand to ease her worries and she nodded. The light turned green and I realized I was cold and my n*****s were hard as f**k again. Jeez I probably should've gotten dressed.
