OVERSEER
Gongurdu (I call her Gerdi) and I were working on a new potion that we were inventing that could help reduce the time it takes it heal broken bones and wounds, but to also relieve the pain in the process. Don't get me wrong, medicine has advanced over the last few hundred years, but nothing really beneficial to any magical being like it has for the mortal human.
I was engaged in a pile of books, whilst Gerdi was mixing ingredients together in a cauldron whilst muttering enchantments.
Suddenly, there was a loud slap through the bubbling of the cauldron and Gerdi c******g beakers and test tubes together.
To our surprise, Akra was before us and she was wounded. We quickly rushed over to her as Akra's eyes rolled back into her in head and she passed out as soon as we got to her.
'Akra!' Gerdie shouted in panic. Holding Akra's unconscious head, looking down and checking her face and looks at me.
I look Akra over. She was covered in sweat and dirt, her clothes were slightly torn and had some blood on them. That's when I noticed blood started to pool slowly on the concrete from under her.
'She's wounded, we are going to have to move her on to the table to check her properly.' I said. I tried gently as I could to pick Akra up off the floor. Gerdi rushed quickly to clear the table and quickly pulled out a dozen small crystal orbs. The orbs rose by themselves above us and started to produce a bright white light which now illuminated the room and let us be able to see Akra clearly.
I placed Akra on the table and started to observe her. Her heart beat was faint, so was her breathing and had started drawing a fever. She had minor cuts and scratches, that clearly Ahmeira had started to heal. But for some reason it was taking more time than it should, considering Akra was part dragon.
'Help me turn her to her side.' I said to Gongurdu, who nodded at me with wide eyes.
Upon doing so, I moved Akra's shirt up to see she had been stabbed three times and her blood was oozing from the wounds. I looked over the table and picked up an empty test tube and put some of Akra's blood in it.
'Gerdie, please check to see if her blood contains poison.' I asked, handing the test tube out for her, she took it and frantically went over to the ingredients she already had out. I looked at the wounds closely and saw something was in one of them. I picked up small tongs and gently took it out.
'Jayter, she's is poisoned.' Gerdie said flustered, whilst answering what I now already knew. She showed me a sample of now Akra's blood had turned green indicting she was poisoned.
'How did this happen?' she asked stunned, throwing a hand in the air.
'She was wounded in gold.' I replied and held up the now blood stained jaggered piece of gold and she gasped in response.
'Quickly gerdie, we haven't much time.' I said.
********
GONGURDU (GERDI)
I was really upset, Akra is my best friend and I feel like am helpless to help her. Every moment that goes by and that she gets worse, the more like I have failed her.
Jayter and I, searched frantically through books trying to come across an antidote that could possibly help her, but nothing has come up other than just antidotes on wolfsbane, witch hazel, silver, slow down the process of vampirism, the list goes on. Just nothing on dragon shifters.
I sat with Akra and held her hand, I was starting to get overwhelmed in my emotions.
Not only am I a healer by profession, I am a witch, a powerful one of that.
I reflected on when I met Akra, it was the middle of winter and it was snowing, I was visiting my brother, his wife and my two nieces and my nephew, the children were young only between the ages of 3 and 8. My little town was raided and the fighters broke into their house, killed my brother, his wife and the children. I was beaten, r**ed and left to die. The fighters completely destroyed the home and left it in shattered pieces, some of it on fire.
A short time later, Akra she accidentally stumbled upon me in the debris and rubble, that was burning out. I was bleeding out on the snow, whilst the snowflakes fell on and around me. Weak, scared and my blood slowly turning into ice, I used what was left to defend myself. My magic didn't take much of an affect, which frightened me more and I tried to move away from her, my arm in front of me as a barrier between her and I, my magic didn't affect her not just because that Akra has magic of her own and is very powerful at that, but because of who she is. She promised she wasn't going to hurt me, but I cowered from her all the same, especially when she went to touch me, she removed it from me at my reaction and instead removed her jacket and slowly placed it on me, without touching me herself, it was warm again my cold skin.
'what do you want?' I stuttered, trying to be brave. I was shaking and I got up unsteadily, using the broken wood to support me.
'To help.' she replied, without looking at me but looking around us.
She conjured a roaring fire out of thin air, then untied a medium sized pouch from her belt. In amazement she pulled out a pot, some roast beef, potatoes, carrot, pumpkin and some other variety of vegetables. Then a wooden cubicle that looked like an old outhouse. She looked at me at smiled, whilst I just stared back her, shaking uncontrollably and cowering. She slapped the wood making me jump what seemed like 4 foot in the air.
'Never worry, this has a concealment enchantment on it. No one will know we are here. all the will see is the c*****e and damage surrounding us, which will with all due respect will provide us with some cover. Please come inside if you wish and when you a ready, if you don't I will completely understand.' Akra said to me and went inside whilst I stood there confused and conflicted in the snow, but I was curious about her, so I went inside interested to know her and what she was.
Blinking my eyes out of my thoughts, tears started to flow down my cheeks and Jayter came over and placed his hand on my shoulder offering me some comfort. I put my hand underneath his fingers and leaned my head on top.
'She will be alright.' He soothed.
'I don't know what we will do without her Jay.' I cried.
He stood to my side facing me and placed his hands out for me to take them and I did and stood up, getting closer to him. I looked down and he place his hand under my chin, making me look up at him. He placed his hands on my arms and started to rub them gently.
'I know right now it seems lost, but we can still do our best to save her. But she is also Akra Bloodscale, she is part dragon. It's going to take more than poison to kill her.' He said quietly trying to comfort me, he was leaning slowly down as I looked him.
Thats when it hit me.
'That's it.' I screamed in Jayters face, he jumped back in surprise.
'sorry.' I said to him, sheepishly. He waved my apology away, now looking annoyed. so I continued.
'Akra is the last of her family right and they were a special kind of their species?' I asked him.
'Thats correct,' he said now in thought.
'Being part dragon, the only thing that can enhance the healing is fire or anything related. What if we can get some of the volcanic rock from where her family used to live and see if it could possibly be used to create an antidote for her?' I said. I was hoping with all I had I was right on to something and that it could possible work.
Without a word, Jayter started to look through the stock of ingredients and produced a small boulder that he was carrying with two hands. With a pick, he managed to break a piece off.
'From what I was told this was from Brimcamour, where Akra is from.' he told me as he started to crush the stone as much as he could into dust. Whilst I watched in awe.

'Im finished, I pray that this works.' Jayter announced after some time.
I had left him alone and stood by Akra, whilst I thought about mine and Jayter's encounter before. He hurriedly come to Akra and injected the serum he made just for her into her bloodstream. I was on edge and gave Akra my full attention. She went completely still and her breathing that were shallow before, was barely there.
'All we have to do now is wait and let it be up to Akra' Jayter said to me. He took my hand and I squeezed it back.
