Kase’s order reached the lodge before the guards could answer their radios.
No one opens that gate.
Valentina stood in the sitting room doorway with her phone in her hand and Brady still seated on the floor behind her, too still now for comfort. In the dining area, Caleb’s chair scraped back. At the entrance hall, the Council guard closest to Kase touched his earpiece and went pale beneath the short beard on his jaw.
A second voice came through the radio.
Gerald Wilcox.
“North gate security, grant supervised entry to Alpha Darius Yu and his escort. This is Council-authorized.”
Kase turned toward the guard.
