The next morning, I didn't wake up until nine. Over the past five years at the Hayes residence, I had always gotten up early to make breakfast for Hilbert. Hilbert liked the sandwiches I made, so I constantly changed the recipes for him. Now that I suddenly didn't have to do any of it anymore, it felt strangely unfamiliar.
