Chapter three

2779 Words
I’m dreaming of eating at a buffet any kind of food you can imagine is there. I gorge, I stuff my face full with fist fulls of food, but it does nothing to sedate my growing hunger. My stomach growls and cramps painfully in as the smell of something makes my salivate, where my dream buffet lacked before was this and the taste. I search my pile of food for the source. “Wake up, wake up, wake up.” The voices start chanting in my head. I sit up and clutch my head between my head covering my ears as if to silence the voices. But they stop there chanting. I slowly remove my hands from my ears and rest them on my lap. I try to blink to clear my blurry eyes, and failing I give them a rub a couple of times before stretching. My stomach gives another painful twist as the smell of food I dreamt about teases my senses once again I look down and glance at a tray of food layed out in front of me. With out thinking I reach out and grab a loaf of warm bread I take a bite into the sweet spiced bread and moan in pleasure movement catches my eye and I look up to glance into the face of a breathtakingly beautiful man, I gasped in shock only to choke and sputter my food all over him as I cough. He stands, ignoring the bits of half chewed food he gently strokes and pats my back as if I’m okay. Blindly I search the tray for something to drink. Tears sting my eyes something cold touches my lip and I raise my hands to find a cup being held to my lips, i greedily drink the cold soothing fluid. As I finish the whole cup. When it’s empty I feel the man move the tray and sit beside my on the bed, I wipe eyes and stare red face at the gorgeous man that nearly killed me with his good looks. I blink as my face burn in embarrassment. He gives me a kind smile as he holds my hand. I do a double take as I withdraw my hand and look around. Where am I? I remember the restaurant scene and leaving then—you stole a car—and I took it for a ride—then you broke out of the car—and I ran— then you found the car, a Mansion in the forest and—shut up! Oh...shit. I glance up at the beautiful guy, then to the door then at the food, I pretty sure it’s obvious I was the one who stole the car and broke out of that said car so why were they feeding me and letting my sleep here. Why wasn’t I in cuffs, sitting in a cell? At a police station. Who was this guy, why was he being nice to me, was he going to exact justice on his own terms. What should I do, I should run—No—who knows what this dangerously handsome person will do to me out here in the middle of nowhere—hopefully in this bed—WHAT!—you should beg him to take —OMG STOP! “Are you okay?” He said with frown as he reached out to me. I withdraw and scramble back until I hit the head board. Making him frown deeper. “Listen I’m sorry, but what am I doing here?” “What do you mean?” He said with a tilt of his head. “I mean... what am I doing in this bed and why are you feeding me? “You were exhausted, and your stomach was growling so I brought up some food for you.” He said matter of factually. Like the question confused him. I flush and blink at him as I wait for the imaginary shoe to drop. When he says nothing else i take a chance and ask. “Thank you, for your hospitality but I should be going home.” “What, Why?” “Cause I live there?” “Live here?” “Um... I don’t even know you? Please I want to go home”—No—“I don’t understand”—STAY—Shut up! “I can’t stay!”—NO— “SHUT UP!” My head throbs painfully and my ears ring. “Very well, I’ll have one of my drivers take you home.” He stands abruptly giving me one look before walking out leaving me by myself in my room. His stoic face implanting in my brain. You stupid wretch!—UGH, I need to get home and take my meds and call my doctor. I untangle myself from the blankets and sheets. My feet are bare and in place of my clothes I wear a silky cream coloured floor length gown that whispers against my skin and the floor as I walk, the place just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I felt violated at the thought of someone changing me. I needed to get out of here and fast. I try the French doors to the balcony they opened on oiled hinges not a sound made I approach the stone bannister and peer down, I’m not supper high up but I’d definitely break a leg or my neck if I Tried to jump. Just then a head pokes out of the balcony below and glances at me. I jump and run back inside. Closing the doors and hiding next to the wall at the same time as a soft rapping has my nearly pissing myself, As I warily glance at the French doors haft expecting to see the dude, but the balcony remains solitary of persons. Another small rap has my jumping again and looking at the direction of the bedroom door that opens slightly. A small brunette with a bob steps in with a pile of folded clothes in her hand. “Hi, I’m Loretta!” She said as she approached the bed and places my clothes on arm chair at the end of the bed. And picking up and holding out a silk cream robe for me I hesitate before slipping it on, she pulls out my hair and ties my belt for me covering my chest well. “Uh...thanks.” “I apologize, we did not think you would be very comfortable in your clothes, so I cleaned you up a bit and changed you. Your clothes where in pretty bad shape after your run through the forest and you had a couple of minor scraps I treated.” “Thank you” “So why did you decide to steal the car?” She said humorously. “What...I-I-I didn’t steal the car!.” Liar—I flush, as i stammer. As she laughs, so they do know I stole the car. “Please, please I’m—I’m sorry—“ she gives my a weird confused look as i stammer out an apology. Before she starts to giggle. “I thought it was hilarious, no one has ever been so bold to steal from—“ A knock on the door interrupts us and in steps mr gorgeous. Goosebumps rise over my arms and the voices start to hum in my head. Loretta gives a knowing smile as he approaches us with a stoic expression, I find myself searching for something, something feels off, waves of emotions run off of him I glance at Loretta be she seems unaffected. It probably just my paranoia set in. I find myself entrapped in his deep hazel azure eyes. Shivers of awareness pass through my body I cross my arms over my chest to hide my erected n*****s only covered by two thin layers of silk. “She nervous about the car—“ “All is forgiven but next time if you want to take a ride, ask me.” At the end he leans in a whispers in my ear—eliciting naught images of taking him for a ride instead of his car. I flush and nod my head hurriedly. “Now get dressed. The cars ready to take you home.” He said as he glances down at my crossed arms covering my chest. My body coming alive from just a glance. He looks me in the eye one more time expectantly before turning and leaving once more. With his departure Loretta turns and waggles her eyebrows at me. “He is enthralled by you.” She said as she picks my clothes from the armchair and approaches me. “I...he—why?” She gives me a frown. “Can’t you tell?” “Tell what” “Never mind, I talk to much, let’s get you ready.” I let her change the subject. I was thankful for it. After I was fully dressed there was a knock on the door this time it remained closed as a voice filtered through, “Ms. the car is ready.” Loretta walks over and opens the door, revealing the blonde hair young man from before. “Thank you Austin.” “Come I’ll walk you out.” She sais motion me out. I slowly step out of the room. Austin stands against the far wall i the large wide hallway. “It’s been so nice having someone to talk with, I hope our paths shall cross again.” Loretta surprise me when she gives me a hug. “Uh yes that would be nice” I said and I meant it. Loretta was an energetic soul in the short time I’ve know her she grew on me. I step off the porch and descend the stairs to the car. Another male I haven’t meant with dark spiky hair(betta) held the passenger door for me. I stepped in, and he closed the door gently when I thanked him. “Your welcome,” I after the door is closed I turn and face my driver. My breath catches in my throat. Mr. gorgeous is behind the wheel. Looking even more sexier. “Ready,” I take a big gulp and nod my head. “Mhmm” The rest of the drive is filled by him as he asks me questions, like what my favourite colour, what kind of activities do I enjoy, do I have any hobbies, once I’d answer he’d share his this went on for 30 min on the drive back into the city. “Where do you live?” “Actually if you can drop me at the restaurant, I left my car there.” “Sure.” Another ten minutes goes by when we pull up to the restaurant he stops at the valet service “Thanks” I say as I hurried fumble with my seatbelt. When he steps out I look up to watch him hand his keys over and come around the front of the car. He opens my door and leans down to may contact offering his hand. I hesitate for a second, before I find myself unconsciously accepting his hand. His large rough hands. Sending tingles up my arm, the little hairs stand on my arm stand at end. I swing my legs out making sure my dress doesn’t ride up and flash my lacy thong. My new heels a little higher then I was used to. I think he noticed my struggle trying to lift myself on the thin stiletto’s so took my other hand and gently tugged before sliding up my Arm to my shoulder to hold my waist. We stood there pressed together. My heart pumping, as something passed between us. Before I can think much about it he ever so gently pulled away, but I did not feel his absence as he kissed my on my hand and guided me with his hand pressed to the small of my back. We rounded the car and approached the restaurant as a staff in a gold jacket lead us to the entrance and opened the doors. “Good day sir and madame he said with a bow” “Good day frank hows your knee been feeling?” “Very good sir, thank you for asking.” “Don’t push yourself, come to me if it starts to ail you.” “Thank you sir, madame.” As soon as I got home I dropped my Kay’s I dropped my keys In the bowl on my small apartment island and picking up my landline called my psychiatrist, after a few rings the receptionist answered “Dr. Costa’s office this is Marylyn speaking.” “Hi Marylyn it’s (Gabrielle Mason) Is there anyway Dr. Costa can squeeze me in today my medication doesn’t seem to be working.” “Ley me just check his schedule, can you hold for a couple minutes?” “Sure” “I’ll be right back” The music played as I studied the pills that was suppose to silent the voices in my head. “Ms. Mason?” “ yes”! “It’s Dr.Costa, Marylyn mentioned you feel like your medication isn’t working, can you tell me what you are experiencing.” “The voices in my head, they come and go, it’s making me agitated, anxious, paranoid i feel like I’m losing it doc I’m starting to question the realness of things. “Have you been taking your meds?” “When do you take them? “How many pills how many times? “ I’m sending you a car to pick you, do not leave the house. He will bring you to the emergency at the hospital I’ll see you there and will look you over. I stayed a night for observation before I was sent home, with a new bag of goodies and side effects, Dr Costa said I’d be groggy and sleepy for the next couple of days until my body regulated the new drugs. I went straight to my bed and crashed. I don’t know how many days it’s been but I didn’t registered the banging. It was heard but unplaced. My brain felt muddled and sleepy. Light evened through my bedroom door shadows danced and blotted out the light. Humming… I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. I hesitated at her front door, I hadn’t heard from her in days and I was getting frustrated and anxious. My ego taking a hit when she didn’t immediately hear from her or the next day or the next day. And that’s how I found myself standing at her door. Second guessing, I wanted her to make the first move so as not to make her feel obligated or fearful just because she stood my car. I wanted to know her but showing up at her house uninvited came off more then a little stalker ish. I lifted my hand and knocked, I waited before knocking again still no response I knocked a little harder my agitation seeping through. Something didn’t feel right… I tryed the handle the knob twisting with ease but caring on the chain. Damn I knocked again and called out, only sound of deep breathing and shuffling. Before I could think things through I busted the chain and stepped in the apartment was quiet the air heavy, I flip on the light switch to the right of the door the area was cleaning except for orange medicine bottles scattered across the counter and a glass with an inch of water I picked up the bottles and examined the label unsure of what it was or for what but concerned with the amount. Shuffling to my left has my turning to a darkened room just of the kitchen and directly across from the front door. The door was opened I could make out a bed I approach the door while calling out. There in the bed she lays eyes unfocused and heavy lidded she blinks slowly. I call out but she doesn’t respond just closes her eyes. I close the distance between us kneeling by her bed I brush her damp knitted hair from her pale face her face is drawn I call out but she doesn’t I give her a little shake. Fear rises as I bark out at my companions to call the our doctor and start the car. I scoop her blanket and all and jog down the two flight to my car where it waits by the curb before jumping in the seat and driving away.
