I had barely gotten comfortable at my desk, still sorting through yesterday’s scattered notes and loose papers, when a firm voice sliced through the steady rhythm of ringing phones and clacking keyboards “Everyone, can I have your attention for a moment?” The office hushed almost instantly. Chairs rolled back, the tapping of keys slowed into silence, and conversations fizzled into murmurs before fading completely. One by one, my colleagues pushed away from their cubicles and drifted toward the front of the room, forming a loose half-circle just outside the glass wall of Mr. Reynolds’ office.
