Blink kept pushing herself and her career,she did everything possible to be the best. She never for once felt discouraged by anything,her mum and brother was always by her side to support her and help her in taking the right direction.

Blink has been some health issues recently,she feels fatigue sometimes,but she didn’t allow it to bother her. “It might be stress from too much training “,she thought.

The final whistle of the match that qualifies her team for the quarter final of the tournament reverberated. She was full of joy , at that moment she collapsed,everybody was surprised.the medical team quickly rushed her to the hospital.her coach informed her mom about the newest development.when her mother arrived at the hospital,she met her coach and other teammates outside.she kept on pacing while they wait for the doctor.

A moment after,

The doctor came out and they all rush to ask how she is doing.

“I am doctor Daren,she is been put out of trouble “,said the doctor.

“You are her mother right?,asked Dr.Daren

“Yes, am mrs smith”,Blink’s mom responded.

“Come with me”,the doctor said.

When they arrived at the doctor’s office,he offered her a seat and they both sat down.

“How is my daughter?,mrs smith asked.

“She is fine now but we have run some test,the results will out tomorrow,while we are at it she needs serious bed rest so she will not be discharged “,Dr Daren explained.

“Thank you doctor,I will see her now”,mrs smith said.

“Feed her and don’t stay too long,she needs to sleep”,he said.

Blink was already awake when her mom arrived and her teammates has already left after seeing her.

“Good evening mom”,Blink greeted immediately her mom walked in.

“How are you doing?,asked her mom.

“Tired but fine,what did the doctor said?,she asked.

“Nothing much,they are running some test so we will find out tomorrow and most importantly you need to eat and rest”she responded.

Blink are her food and slept,soon after her mom phone rang and it was her son ,he already saw the news on social media since Blink has gained small popularity.just as their call came to an end ,someone rushed in.

“Good evening ma”,Derek greeted breathing heavily.

“Good evening “,mrs Smith responded.

Derek was Blink’s closest friend,he was just hearing the news and rushed down immediately.

“Mummy,you need to go home and rest I will look after my friend “,said Derek.

“She seems so stressed”, he thought

“Thank you so much my son,I will be here tomorrow morning “,she said and left.

In the morning;

Blink woke up,looked around and was surprised to see her best friend staring at her.

“How are you,sleeping beauty ?asked Derek.

“What in God’s name are you doing here,I thought you were out of town?she asked.

“Will I have to leave you here,am your manager “,responded Derek.

Blink was about to respond to him when her mom walked in.

“What are this two bird arguing about again”,said Blink’s mom.

“Good morning ma “,they both greeted

“Am sure you guys slept well?,she asked.

“Yes na “ they responded.

Blink and Derek has finish eating when the doctor walked in.

“Good morning everyone “,he greeted.

“Good morning doctor”,they responded.

“I came to check up on Blink and I need to speak to you mrs Smith,the results are out”,Dr Daren said.

“Doctor,why don’t you say it here?Blink asked.

“I need to speak with your mom privately “,responded Dr Daren.

“Don’t worry doctor,you can speak to us”,said mrs Smith.

“Okay,we conducted a series of test;blood and imaging test ,he paused a bit and continued Blink has stage v kidney failure,she needs urgent kidney transplant “Dr Daren explained.

“What!,How did that happened?she asked.

“Kidney failure can be caused by so many things like; diabetes,high blood pressure,heart disease,family history of kidney disease,abnormal kidney structure or a long lasting history of taking pain relievers including ;over the counter products such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),he paused when he looked at their face and continued don’t worry too much,all we have to do is to get a donor as fast as possible “Dr Daren ended.

Blink’s POV

Blink was already lost in thought when the doctor ended,she felt her world crumbling, she can’t believe the fact that she was diagnosed with kidney failure,forcing her to confront the fragility of her own body and the uncertainty of her future in sports. she stands alone in the eye of the storm,her spirit fractured and teetering on the edge of oblivion.stripped of her dreams and her future in jeopardy,she grapples with a despair so profound that it threatens to consume her whole. The harsh realization dawns upon her that she may never soar across the hallowed turf of a professional stadium,her once-bright aspirations now reduced to mere ashes. With her back against the hospital bed and the world closing in around her,Blink finds herself engulfed in suffocating darkness,the hollow ache of defeat echoing in the depths of her soul.

One week later:

Blink health has deteriorated and they are yet to find a donor,she felt so defeated. Her mum ,brother,best friend,teammates and some of her fans are always by her side to support her.

In the crucible of her darkest hour, Blink unearths a flicker of resilience buried deep within her heart. She recalls Sarah’s parting words,a poignant reminder that true victory is not merely about conquering external foes but, more importantly,about mastering the demons that lurk within one’s own mind and soul. Bolstered by a newfound sense of inner peace,strength and determination,Blink resolves to silence the cacophony of doubt and betrayal that threatens to engulf her. She believes that one day the sun will rise again on her behalf.
