The past few days had been tense. Rina felt uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen. Ivory, her beloved white cat, had also been acting strangely staying closer to her than usual, his golden eyes watching her intently, almost as if he had something to say.
One evening, Rina found herself walking home alone from work. The streets were quieter than usual, a cold breeze sending shivers down her spine. Just as she turned a corner, a figure lunged at her from the shadows.
A mugger.
Rina gasped, stumbling back as the man demanded her belongings. Fear gripped her, but before she could react, a blur of white shot through the air. Ivory—her cat—leapt at the attacker, scratching and biting with all his might.
"IVORY, NO!" Rina screamed.
The mugger, caught off guard, cursed and swatted at the cat. But Ivory refused to let go. In the struggle, the man pulled out a knife.
Time seemed to slow.
The blade flashed under the streetlight.
Ivory’s small body was thrown aside.
Rina’s heart stopped. She ran to Ivory, her hands trembling as she gathered his limp body in her arms. "No, no, no please, Ivory, stay with me!" Tears streamed down her face as she stroked his fur. His breathing was weak, shallow. Rina didn't care about the man who already run away.
Then, something incredible happened.
Ivory’s golden eyes locked onto hers, filled with sorrow... and love. A faint glow surrounded his body, growing brighter until Rina had to shield her eyes.
A gust of wind surged around them.
And when the light faded—
A man lay in her arms.
Not just any man.
Adam Smith.
Rina gasped, her mind struggling to process what had just happened. She had only seen him on the news, but now... he was here, his body covered in scratches and bruises, his breathing ragged.
"Rina..." His voice was weak but filled with relief.
She jolted, pulling back in shock. "W-Who—How" Her words died in her throat as realization dawned.
Ivory was... him?
Her cat. The one she had cared for, loved, confided in was a man all along?
Adam gave a weak chuckle, but pain flashed across his face. His fingers barely brushed against her cheek before his body gave out.
Panic surged through Rina. "Adam—? ADAM!"
He had saved her. And now, he was slipping away.
She had to get help.
