The nursery was quiet when I arrived, most of the pack’s children out with Roland for afternoon exercise. Only baby Elijah remained, sleeping peacefully in his crib while Jenny worked on what looked like a small crocheted toy—an amigurumi rabbit with multicolored fur. Jenny looked up at my entrance, her kind face breaking into a smile.
