Chapter 3

I stand there as the officers look at me.
"Are you the girl he tried to assault?" one of the police asks me.
I nod my head not trusting my voice.
"Okay. We'll need to ask you some questions?"
I nod my head again and start to walk out from behind the counter. They take Michel away and I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. The cop walks up to me and we walk to a corner.
"Okay, so can you tell me everything that happened."
"Do you want me to start when I was outside or inside?"
"Where ever you want."
"I had my hands full of snacks and drinks. I had my head down and was headed to the counter to pay. I bumped into Michel. I picked up the food and apologized. I started to head to the counter and he followed. I paid for my stuff as well as some gas and went out to my car. I didn't know it but he followed me. He asked for my number and I told him no. I grabbed my pepper spray and had it in my pocket with my hand on it. He grabbed my wrist and I sprayed him. I ran back inside and the cashier let me behind the counter. She called the police. After she got off the phone I used her phone to call my dad. Michel then came barging in tear the place up looking for me. Then you guys showed up."
The officer wrote down everything nodding and looked up at me.
"Are there any witnesses?"
"I'm not sure I was more worried about my safety."
"We have cameras where she was at." The cashier spoke up.
"Okay. Is there a way we can access it?"
"Yes."
"Can I please continue on my way? I still have like 10 hours on the road."
"Oh yes. Please stay safe young lady."
I quickly walk to my car and put the gas in. I get in my car and start back on the road.

I have been driving for a total of 5 and a half hours now I'm exhausted, all my snacks are gone and I still have 4 and a half hours to go. I stopped in Oklahoma City a while back but my next stop won't be until el dorado. I'm so tired of being in this car. I let out a sigh and turn on the radio. I started to search for a station and finally come across one playing DO RE Mi by Blackbear. I start to sing along just enjoying the music instead of silence. My phone started to ring so I turned down the radio and saw that it was Chase.
"Hey Girly." He said once I answer my phone.
"Hey. What's up?"
"Just wondering where you're at right now. Also giving you some company."
"Um, Getting pretty close to Arkansas. And thanks I needed it."
"Oh, yeah. And anytime girl."
"Yeah. What's going on up in El Paso?"
"Everyone's missing you."
"Yeah everyone but Kate. She's probably so happy that I'm finally gone."
"Haha yeah, that's true. She noticed you weren't here and actually was happy."
"How did I know?" I said with a laugh.
Chase chuckled then sighed.
"Things are gonna be way different without you. I already miss you."
"I know me too. I promise that I will face time once a week to keep you up to date."
"I know but it won't be the same."
I let out a sigh knowing what chase said is true.
"Well, I have to go my folks want to go do something to get my mind off you leaving."
"Bye, I'll text you when I make it there."
"Be safe girly."
"I will. Bye chase."
"Bye girly."
Chase hung up ad I let out a sigh I turn the radio on again just so I won't have to listen to silence.
