Chapter 2:the aftermath

After getting off the phone, Charles, CEO of PARLE, a company that rivaled Banes Enterprise in the business sector, quickly ordered one of his henchmen over to the hotel.

The man, Rudolph, quickly got on a bike, stopped at the hotel, and contacted the lady, who picked him up and directed him to her location. Rudolph went over to her and silently handed her the money in exchange for the camera, which had recorded Howard Banes ' one-night stand with Noah.

“It was nice doing business with you,” Rudolph said and drove off on his bike.

Shortly after he handed the camera over to Charles, Charles’ phone rang and he picked up.

“Clara?”

“Yes Dad,” A young feminine voice said from over the phone“Dad, I want to tell you something ”

“Is it about the money? Don't worry I will have Rudolph send it over”.

“It's about what you told me to do last night,” Clara said cautiously, hoping that what she would say would not anger her father.

“Yes, what about it?” Charles asked and gestured to Rudolph to go and retrieve the memory card inside the camera from his room.

“I'm sorry, Dad, but yesterday I got drunk at this party I attended and was not able to go over to that hotel you told me to. I didn't do what you asked me to do” Clara said.

“What ?!!! So this memory card is empty?”Charles thundered and almost smashed the memory card on the floor but Rudolph restrained him.

“Sir, the lady from the hotel said that a woman came into his room last night, and it wasn't his fiancée, which means that we might still be able to use it to disrupt the contract with Pearson cookery. We just need to tip off the press with whatever it is that is on this memory card and hope it will be enough to destroy the negotiations. After all, nobody will want to do business with a CEO who engages in illicit affairs three days after his engagement," Rudolph said, and Charles nodded in agreement.

“I’ll get back to you,” He said to Clara and ended the call.

During the meeting with the CEO of Pearson Cookery, Howard Bane succeeded in convincing the man on why it was beneficial for Pearson Cookery to allow Banes Enterprise to become a major stockholder in the company, which was rising rapidly. According to him, the young company needed the financial support and influence of a powerful and well-respected company like his to survive the harsh business war of America.

“So what do you say, Mr.Chang. Are we going to become partners?” Howard asked, smiling charmingly and extending a handshake.

Mr.Chang took the handshake and nodded.

"Good, I will be sending my lawyer over to your place tomorrow to sign the papers. Good day,” He said, stood up from his chair, and walked off with a victorious grin on his face. Just as he sped off in his car Mr.Chang received a call from an anonymous individual.

“Who am I speaking with”

“That is not important, Mr.Chang,” Rudolph said from the other end of the line. "I believe you are planning to give Banes Enterprise a major share in your company?”.

“Yes, any problem ?”Mr.Chang, asked, rising from his chair.

“Not at all, I just wonder if you would want to work with a company whose CEO is a philanderer. Imagine the damage it will bring to your company's reputation when the press starts calling him out. It would reduce his company's stock and yours as well. Think about it”. Before Mr Chan could ask any further questions Rudolph ended the call and sent him a video of the s*x tape.

Without pausing to think, Mr.Chang quickly contacted Howard, who answered the call immediately.

“Is there anything you would like to talk about Mr.Chang?”Howard asked as he pulled up inside the compound of his mansion. Got out of the car while his butler and the only other person he lived with carried his suitcase from him into the main house whose decor was in the most simplistic form as if no one lived inside.

“I just wanted to tell you that our contract is off unless you rectify the current situation you put yourself into. I can't risk the reputation of my company because of your carelessness,” Mr. Chang said cuttingly and ended the call, refusing to give details.

Before Howard could recover from the current blow he received another call. This time, it was from the chairman of the board of trustees at Barnes Enterprise, a man he hated well enough.

“Hello, Greenwich. What can I do for you?”Howard asked dryly.

“oh nothing, I just wanted to inform you that after quickly discussing on the recent misdemeanor you got yourself into which has resulted in rapid drop in our company stock and a trend of withdrawal from our top investors, that the board of trustee has decided that you tender in your resignation as the CEO of Banes Enterprise within a week ” Mr.Greenwhich said and ended the call.

“Is there any problem Master Howard?” John, the butler, asked, his gait like that of a refined English gentleman.

“I just received a call from my company that the board of trustee want my resignation over some sort of misdemeanor, which I don't know about. Also, I just lost a contract that was very important to me, and the man was blabbing something I don't understand,” Howard said, bewildered.

“You might want to take a look at this, Sir,” John said and unlocked his phone.

“What's the meaning of all this?”Howard asked no one, particularly in anger, and then remembered the previous night. So that girl just wanted to ruin him. No wonder she refused the money he wanted to pay her.

“John, I need you to find this girl for me I am going to kill her,” Howard ordered, literally fuming.

“Sir, I think it would be best if you calm down. What you need now is serious damage control or you risk losing everything you have worked hard for”

“So what do you suggest I do?” Howard asked, sounding more relaxed.

“i think you should try and find this girl, not to kill her but to know if she is in this plot to ruin you and if she's not then the only thing we can do is convince her to pretend that the both of you are in a relationship maybe pay her a lot of money and then we will find whoever is behind this and make him pay ”.

“Must I have to date her?”

“I'm sorry Howard,” John said, calling him by his first name, “but there is no other way. It's either that or you lose your company ”
