Angel hadn’t said a word to me since I explained things to her. I was waiting for her to start asking questions, but she wasn’t. A knock on the door made me tense. I hesitated before I stood. “I’ll be right back,” I told her before I hurried out of the kitchen. Pulling the door open a few inches, I checked to make sure that it was only one of the maids before I opened it wider. “Thank you,” I muttered, taking the tray from her. “Do you feel any better, sir?” I blinked at her, forgetting that I had taken time off with the excuse that I was sick. “Yes, thank you.” I slammed the door closed before she could ask any more questions.
