Six Months Later
POV: Elara (Moonbeam Café, 11:17 AM)
The bell above the door jingled as another tourist group shuffled in, their phones already raised to capture the "world-famous hybrid baristas" at work. Behind the counter, a silver-haired teen—one of the newly emerged hybrids—rolled her eyes as she steamed milk with her bare hands.
"Extra caramel drizzle?" she deadpanned at the gawking customer. "Wow. So original."
I sipped my lavender latte, watching Caden navigate the crowded café with the grace of a man who'd rather be anywhere else. He'd traded his battle-worn leather jacket for an actual suit—black, tailored, and required by the terms of the Great Compromise—but the golden glare was still 100% pure Lycan.
"Remind me again," he grumbled, sliding into the booth, "why I agreed to be the 'Liaison for Interspecies Relations'?"
"Because Lumen threatened to put you on t****k duty." I tapped my phone, where the @OfficialHollowKing account (run by a certain ancient entity turned social media influencer) was currently live-streaming Mr. Fluffles napping in a sunbeam. "Speaking of—have you seen the new terms Ezekiel found?"
Caden's groan rattled the silverware.
POV: Marcus (SilverSwap 2.0 HQ, 11:23 AM)
The customer service headset itched.
"Yes, ma'am, I understand your Bloodsinger dating app subscription auto-renewed," I said through gritted fangs, "but as per Clause 7 of the New Compact—"
The human on the line shrieked. "I just wanted to match with hot vampires! Not literally pledge my firstborn!"
Behind me, the "Wall of Eternal Shame" displayed my greatest hits:
#KarenVsVampire (3.2B views)
"How To File A Complaint With Your Local Werewolf" (Pinned Tweet)
The infamous "I Was A Corporate Demon" TED Talk
A notification popped up:
@LumenTheLawyer: FYI - Left one clause open-ended in the Compact. Whoopsie ;)
The attached image showed a single line of glowing text:
"FINAL AMENDMENT TO BE NEGOTIATED BY NEXT EQUINOX."
My coffee cup shattered in my hand.
POV: Maeve (City Park, 11:30 AM)
The memorial garden smelled of wolfsbane and freshly turned earth.
Lilith's headstone was simple—no dates, no epitaph, just a single word carved by my own claws:
SISTER
The earth trembled slightly as Mr. Fluffles flopped down beside me, now the size of a small horse (and twice as lazy).
"She'd hate this, you know," he rumbled. "Peace. Cooperation. Fair trade agreements."
I placed a single silver coin on the grave—minted with Lumen's grinning face on one side, and the Hollow King's new corporate logo on the other.
"I know."
POV: Lumen (City Hall Rooftop, 11:45 AM)
The city spread below me like a living circuit board, its streets pulsing with magic and wifi signals. In one hand, I scrolled through the latest #HybridHotties posts. In the other, a single parchment glowed with unfinished business.
The final clause wasn't forgotten.
It was waiting.
A shadow fell across the rooftop. Ezekiel's beard had grown even wilder, twined now with actual fiber-optic cables.
"They'll come for it, you know," he warned. "The moment they realize what's missing."
I grinned, tucking the parchment into my World's Best Lawyer backpack.
"Let them."
Somewhere below, a clock struck noon—and all across the city, every hybrid, human, and former monster lifted their Starbucks cups in unison.
The End
