“Ma'am… ma'am, please wake up; it's time to get you prepared for your wedding.”
Elsie felt a hand jolting her awake.
Rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands softly, she slowly opened her eyes to find a woman with a warm smile plastered on her face.
Today was her wedding; she suddenly recalled sitting upright as she looked at the woman up and down.
Suddenly the door swung open with varieties of wedding gowns being rolled in.
Moments later, Elsie stood in front of a large mirror, staring at herself now fully dressed in her gown.
Today she would be getting married to a man she met last night, and she felt there was nothing really special about it.
After realizing Jordan had always disregarded her all these years, she was determined to fully take control of this opportunity.
“It's simple, Get back at Jordan for hurting me, and it's done.
Elsie thought, inhaling deeply, before walking out from the room.
Walking down the stairs, she caught sight of a figure sitting with his legs crossed.
Staring at Calvin's face with a cold expression, she couldn't help but gulp down her saliva nervously.
He was putting on a tweed suit with his hair neatly styled.
The moment his gaze fell on Elsie, he stood up walking outside, and all Elsie did was walk after him to the car.
Getting in the car, she stole a quick glance at Calvin, whose gaze was now fixed outside the window.
The media was dying to know who he would be getting married to, and she couldn't afford to mess things up, not after the threatening warnings he gave last night.
After what seems like an eternity, the car finally pulled up at the front of a huge building, and Elsie knew this was no other place than the courthouse where they would be getting married.
Stepping out with Calvin, they walked in, but to her greatest surprise, there were just a few people and a small team of reporters who were standing just there.
Walking to the judge, as they stood facing each other with the shutter sound of the camera now capturing every moment.
A man and a woman stepped forward with a warm smile, acting as their bystanders.
And within a short period of time after signing some documents, they were done.
“I now pronounce you both as husband and wife.”
The judge announced with a wide grin.
“And just like that I am now married to a stranger.”
Elsie thought, staring at Calvin with her eyes widely opened.
She was now supposed to give her husband a deep kiss on his lips, but it was never going to happen.
“Please stand together for some pictures,” one of the bystanders asked, extending the marriage certificate to him.
“Sure.”
Calvin replied, taking the marriage certificate from the woman; he turned to the judge.
“Thanks for today,” he said, and with that turned to leave.
Elsie followed him immediately outside, and there she saw a few numbers of reporters now ready to take them a shot.
“Make a scene, don't just stand there like you've seen a ghost.”
She heard his voice, and immediately felt his hand wrapping around her waist.
Turning to him in surprise, she noticed he was still keeping a calm composure despite the body contact they were now making. All she did was let out a little smile escape from her lips reluctantly.
Today was the day she was supposed to get engaged to Jordan , the man she had always dreamt of spending the rest of her life with, the thought of it crushed her heart into several pieces.
“He must be having fun now with Nora.”
She couldn't stop herself from thinking.
She was now legally married to Calvin, and even though their marriage wasn't publicly made, she believed the media would now be filled with news about their marriage.
This was something she was still not ready to accept; she found it hard to believe that now; no one would dare talk back at her or treat her harshly.
But she wasn't going to let that get in her head; all she ever wanted was to get her revenge, and that was all.
“That's all for today; let's go.” Calvin said, walking to the car with his hand still wrapped around her waist.
Getting into the car, Calvin tossed a ring to her without staring at her.
“Put this on,” he said, fixing his gaze back at the window as the car departed from the courthouse.
Staring at the ring, she reached out for it, taking a good look at it before putting it on.
With one look, she could tell the ring would cost several million dollars.
“I warned you not to give the impression that this whole marriage stuff was made up."
Those words made her halt for a moment before turning to him.
“I tried my best to act natural.”
She replied, trying to avoid the gaze now coming from him.
“Jordan,” Calvin murmured.
“Aren't you curious anymore about him?” he said.
“What about him? Today was his engagement with Nora; did something happen to him?”
She was curious now that he mentioned his name.
“With a snap of my fingers, I can have his head thrown into the sea, but I chose to go easy on him.”
Calvin uttered now turning to Elsie
“What happened to him? Did you kill him?”
Elsie asked, staring at him with a series of questions flashing through her mind.
“What makes you think I'll kill him?” Calvin responded with a smirk.
Calvin's response made her a little relieved; all she wanted was to torture him and make him go through the pains she once went through; she didn't intend to cause any bloodshed.
“Are you still in love with the man who dumped you without a single slight of remorse?”
Calvin felt surprise on seeing the worried look she gave the moment he mentioned his name.
“I don't love him anymore; I was just thinking you might have hurt him.” Elsie responded, letting out a sigh.
“It's true, I can't hurt him, but I can always hurt the people around him.” Calvin said bringing out his phone from his pocket.
Elsie was confused for a moment; she wondered what he meant by those words.
“What do you mean by hurting the people around him?” she asked.
“Take a look at this,” Calvin answered, extending his phone to her.
Staring at the screen, her eyes popped out immediately.
