Elsie's response to his proposal did not cause a single flinch in him; instead, a wicked smile curved on his lips as he tilted his head in the direction of the man standing beside him. “Get in the car, ma'am.” The man said, opening the door hurriedly. “Can I at least know where you're taking me to?” Elsie interrupted, taking a few more steps backwards. “You just accepted the proposal to be my wife; where do you think a groom would be taking his bride to?” Calvin answered; he gazed at her for a while before getting back in the car. “His… His House,” Elsie muttered, realizing the consequences of accepting his proposal. It totally slipped her mind that she would need to start living with him, and this made her bite her lips so hard. “What have I brought upon myself?” She was too blinded by her anger and hatred for Jordan that she failed to think twice. “Aren't you getting in, or did you change your mind?” A cold voice sounded, jolting her from thoughts. And now it was final; there was no way she could turn back on her words. Stealing a quick glance at Calvin, she could tell he was a man who didn't like repeating himself, and without any further hesitation, she walked to the car slowly, and after inhaling sharply, she got inside. “It doesn't matter; it's just for a year, and by that time I must have gotten my revenge back on Jordan and probably risen to the top,” she thought, closing her eyes tightly. She was ready to accept this new phase of her life; after all, she had nothing and no one to protect. It was just her, and she was ready to face whatever was awaiting her. ***** The car finally came to a halt, and Elsie stared around; though the drive was long with unspoken words, she found herself letting out a gasp. The view before her was truly captivating. “Is this a house or a hotel?” she found herself mumbling as she stared at the huge mansion in front of her. The doors of the backseat swung open by the men waiting patiently for her and Calvin to step out. “Follow me,” Calvin ordered, stepping out from the car. Taking a quick look around her once more, she stepped out, walking after him hurriedly. The moment she stepped inside the mansion, all she could do was let her mouth hang wide open as she climbed up the stairs, walking after him. Walking into a room with him, she watched him as he quickly removed his tie, tossing it aside on a nearby desk. “Here… Sign this.” Walking forward to Elsie, he extended a document to her. “Before I sign this, can you at least tell me why you chose me to be your wife?” Elsie asked curiously; she wondered why he chose her of all people. “Read the terms and conditions you must abide by.” Calvin said without giving her a response to her question. Snapping the document from his hand, she went through it quickly. And after a while she raised her head upward to meet his gaze, still piercing directly at her. Rule Number One: She wasn't allowed to ask any further questions than acting as his wife within that one year. Rule Number Two: No dating outside the marriage. Rule Number Three: Strictly obeying all his orders and, lastly Rule Number Four: You must not catch feelings. Letting out a scoff, she stared back at his cold eyes in disbelief. She was not even allowed to at least know the reason he was getting her into a contracted marriage. “Now sign it,” his cold voice echoed again, causing her to cringe in fear. Bringing out a pen from her bag quickly, she quickly signed the papers. A few moments later, she was done, and she handed it over to Calvin. “Now there are a few things I need you to know: no one has ever seen Mr. Calvin's fiancée, and tomorrow would be the first day I would be revealing you to the world. Be at your best performance; any funny act, and I'll make you regret ever saying yes to my proposal.” Elsie found herself nodding repeatedly; those words sent a shiver down her spine, and she knew he was not the type of man to mess with. “Jordan… Are you planning to kill him? She couldn't stop herself from letting those words out; even after being fully aware of his warnings not to ask any further questions, she was worried and at the same time scared for her life. All she got back as a response was the frightening look coming from Calvin. “Why do you care? He dumped you for some rich woman. Does it really matter if I kill him?” Calvin finally responded after a long moment of silence. After discovering his identity, she was no longer surprised he knew all that information about her and Jordan. From what she could see, getting on the bad side of this man would definitely be a big mistake for one to do, and this left her curious. “What did Jordan ever do to get on his bad side?” “He dumped my sister just like he dumped you.” Elsie halted for a moment, processing his words. Jordan dumped his sister; does this imply Jordan had been seeing another woman all these years? “I guess he had no idea of my sister's true identity; he not only dumped her, he crushed her heart into pieces that she accidentally got hurt severely while trying to commit suicide.” “He must pay dearly for the damage he had incurred on my sister.” Now she truly understood why he was ready to help her in getting back at Jordan. Elsie knew Jordan would not be able to escape from this man's wrath. From the look of things, Calvin was ready to make him pay dearly for ever hurting his sister. But there was still something missing. It would have been easy for him to get back at Jordan without dragging her into a contracted marriage; why was he still desperate to marry her? “Does that answer your question? Now go; my men will lead you to your room.”. His cold voice sounded, and without hesitating, she turned, walking out immediately.
