Chapter 3 One wrong step and you are out!

Author’s POV
“Mr. Bale!” Nova said pointing to his desk “I left the documents for you to sign it here on your desk. I brought it with my own hand and you said you would sign them after you will verify it! ” she said almost furious.
"You probably thought so!" Ian said and looked at her. "I didn't find any contract here"
Since last week, since she asked Edward Bale to withhold Ian’s cars and bank cards, this scoundrel took his actions at another levels.
He is not just beyond imagination of irresponsible, now he is even stupid, and if before he left things undone because “he was caught with more important things”, no, when he doesn’t have money to w***e around, the fact are simple. And is good that he is not whoring around anymore, because that was her plan from the beginning. She hates seeing him with other women, but yet…
He is a lazy stinker because he doesn't know how to do ANYTHING, but absolutely nothing. Even the laptop, he knows how to open it just to search the internet for what he needs in the rest is a mystery. He doesn't even have a simple idea of how to edit a Word document or make a table in Excels.
"Alright, Mr. Bale" Nova said seeing that he is looking at her amused. “I will print another contract and bring it to you” and she runs into her office and when she came back, surprise!
Ian Bale is nowhere to be seen.
"God, give me strength!” she said.
She calls him on his phone, but he doesn’t answer.
"Should I send him an email?" she thinks for herself but immediately answers herself. "I would do it in vain. He doesn't even know how to read his emails by himself. This is my duty too! ”
And seeing that Ian is untraceable she knock at the door of a meeting room where Edward Bale is waiting with some investors for the contract she has it in her hands, unsigned.
Nova hates to mistake. Strong and calculated, she always knows when and how to make things to be perfect.
But as soon as she opens that door what to see? In the meeting room, Ian stays near his father and not only that, but Ace and Roman are with him. Her heart stops realizing what is happening.
Just a look and his f*****g face will tell you what’s in his empty skull. Alright beautiful face, not f*****g at all, she thinks for herself.
"Miss Lively!" Edward Bale yells at her. “We are waiting for you. The meeting started ten minutes ago! This is not the way an assistant should act! ”
"I'm sorry sir!" Nova said “I went to Mr. Bale Jr. to take the contract and he lost the copy I left for him, I printed another one but he was nowhere. I didn’t know that he was here.”
“What do you mean by is not sign yet? I told you since the morning that I need it sign it until noon! ” Edward yells at her and Ian looks at her waiting for her to be scared and panicked but no, she is not. She is calm and he can’t stand it so take the matter into your own hands.
"She must have forgotten, Dad. She didn't bring me anything. “And looking at her Ian said. “This is not the proper way to do your job, Miss Lively. I can't help you every time to focus on your job, I'm a busy man! ” and immediately begins to nod disapprovingly while Ace can't miss the opportunity and tells her.
"If this job is too much for you just tell Ian, and he will help you be more organized. You helped him a lot, he will help you too I am sure” and he squeezes her eyes at Nova.
“There is no need.” And taking the contract she put it in front of Ian and says. "Sign here and here, sir!"
"I can't sign without reading it first!" Ian exclaim and the investor just look at Edward Bale and ask.
"Is that how our collaboration will be?"
"No, Mr. Smith," Edward Bale said. “After today my assistant will look for everything! ” and he throws and ugly look to Nova.
“Will you start your presentation now?” Ian asks Nova "Or do you want me to do this for you?" making her to swear him in her heart.
“There is no need, Sir, but thank you for your kindness!” Nova said and Ian feels the irony in her voice.
She takes her laptop, starts the presentation and after just four slides that are perfectly prepares, just as all her work is always made, her laptop crack!
“Something in wrong” she said looking at Ian’s father while from her laptop screen start to open pages over pages from internet and she can’t stop the process. The harder she fights to close the pages, the more they seem to appear.
"Miss Lively!" Edward Bale yells at her looking at the screen where some porn movies starts. But as furious Edward Bale is, at the same level his investor starts to laugh, until he starts to shed tears, shocking him.
For the first time Ian sees Nova a little bit stressed and her face frowned a little. But that's all, nothing more for his disappointed. She closes the laptop with a clap and excuses herself.
"Oh my god! Nova Lively!" Ian yelled as if he is horripilate when he sees her leaving the room. "This is what you are doing all day in your office instead of working?" and looking at Edward he asks. "Are you sure she's suitable for this job, dad?"
And right now Edward is not sure about his decisions but in the end the investor signed the contract and passed over everything that happened, while Nova went to her office and closed the door after her, and started to cry.
She is smart! This is the only thing that she is proud about. Even she was an orphan she loved going to school. She went to high school at one of the top institutes in the US, and had a scholarship all the time, excelling in everything she did, so just the simple suggestion that she would be incompetent made her feel so hurt that right now she can't even think clear.
Suddenly her office door opened and Ian appears laughing.
"Nova Lively, what a show you offered me today!" but seeing that she is not looking at him he says, “Tonight we have the annual investor’s gala. Don’t ruin the event from this evening as you were about to do earlier. One wrong step and you are out! ” he said.
And wiping her tears, Nova looked up and stared into the eyes of Ian, but Ian’s heart skipped a beat seeing her with her puffy eyes. And he feels how a huge knot put in his throat, not letting him breathe anymore.
“What is happening with me?” and he puts his hands right in the area where he can measure his pulse. His heart have never beaten so hard. The way he feels seeing Nova with tears in her eyes scares him.
This woman is bold and sassy and every time she has the lines to her, hitting him in his face whenever she has the opportunity. But now she is crying?
Shit, she is really crying and even if this was the plan from the beginning, seeing her like this made his heart tightened a little.
"I have to find a newspaper and read my zodiac. Or maybe I should see a doctor, probably I am sick! ” Ian said to himself.
Nova wipes away her tears, and still looking at him, very calm she just smiles at him as if nothing happened and says.
"No sir, I will not. I will be at seven at the venue and I will check all the details so that everything is perfect and all your guests to feel good. “And she turns her gaze from him, because she is furious and ashamed for what happened earlier, but he will never know that what he did hurt her deeply.
Ian looks at her and for a second thinks that maybe his plan of revenge is too fierce but as soon as he closes her office door and sees Ace and Roman, he thinks that maybe he is exaggerating.
It’s just a false impression. The plan goes on!
