The wedding lasted 12 minutes.
No guests. No church. Just a judge, 2 witnesses, and a photographer who never smiled.
`“I now pronounce you husband and wife,”` the judge said.
Damian slipped a 5-carat ring on her finger. It was cold.
By 3pm it was on i********:, Twitter, and every blog:

Zara’s phone died from notifications.
Mom called 14 times. She didn’t answer.
The driver took her to Banana Island. The mansion had 20 rooms. And Damian.
He was in the kitchen. In a black shirt and sweatpants. Making coffee. Like a normal person.
`“Wife,”` he said without looking up. `“We have a gala tonight. Wear the red dress in your closet.”`
`“I have a closet here?”`
`“I had it filled yesterday.”`
Zara went upstairs. The room was bigger than her whole apartment. The closet was full of Dior, Gucci, Valentino. With tags.
She picked the red dress. It fit perfectly.
At 7pm, they walked into Eko Hotel. Cameras flashed. `“Mrs. Okafor! Smile!”`
Damian’s hand was on her waist the whole night. Possessive.
That was when she saw the text:
Unknown: `You don’t know who you married. Back out now. - B`*
Zara looked around. No one.
`“Who are you texting?”` Damian asked, suddenly beside her.
Zara pocketed her phone. `“No one. Spam.”`
Damian nodded. But his eyes were scanning the room.
Later that night, back home, he walked her to her room. Separate rooms. Clause 4.2.
`“Goodnight, Zara,”` he said.
`“Goodnight,”` she replied.
The door closed.
Zara locked it. Then she checked her phone again.
Another text from B: `“Ask him about Amina. Then you’ll understand.”`
Amina?
Zara googled the name. One result. News from 1 year ago.

Zara dropped her phone.
Her first night as Mrs. Okafor.
And she was already in danger.
