With her understanding nod, he turned back to the descending demons and brought both of the twin daggers into view.

Kamui stifled a cry as he watched Toya and Kyoko disappear from the shrine. Descending quickly from the sky on shimmering wings, he sprinted towards the maiden statue determined not to lose the two people he considered his to protect. Before he could reach the florescent light surrounding the maiden, Kamui was tossed back like a rag doll as the hoard of demons filled the opening leading back to the past.
Kyou’s eyes widened slightly when the light of the time portal flooded the shrine grounds. Growling back a curse, he stood, fighting the urge to plunge headlong after them but the descending demons were filling it too fast. He would not let them go back alone.
