From Pageant To Love

1201 Words
Love is a feeling, a feeling of happiness. Love is powerful, too powerful to play with. This feeling is strange and hard to describe, but when you fall in love, you will know it inside." The Academic Staff Union of University decided to call of the strike after two weeks of keeping students at home. We had taken our first semester examination and the second semester started immediately. The school authorities said no break was given due to the two weeks strike, apparently we had used up our holiday unwittingly. Nevertheless i was happy because i didn't want to go back home again School activities became more serious, our lecturers became more strict with us. Some would say, "you guys have been welcomed in your first semester, now it's time for serious business", i didn't understand that statement until it was time for our examination. During that time, most of the people in the class had identified their circle, we weren't strangers to each other anymore, so making new friends in class became more difficult. I realized i didn't have much girls who I was talking to anymore. I guess some left because i wasn't giving them what they wanted. Although i could see some who were crushing me but they didn't have the qualities i needed even for a one night stand. There was Favour, she was thick, tall and she had beatiful body but her face wasn't really encouraging. At first i wasn't really talking to her but i knew she wanted something with me. She would steer at me every single time she has the opportunity. One day after class, while I was heading to the door of the classroom, i heard someone calling me when i turned back to look it was her. She told me her name and said she would like us to be friends, so we exchanged numbers. Before i got back to my house, she had already texted me, i saw the message but i waited until i got home before i replied her message. When i was finally ready to text her back, i realized that she had sent me a question mark for not responding to her first message. I apologized for delaying. "It's no problem, so how are you doing?" she replied swiftly. we exchanged pleasantries and i also asked her some questions about herself. Chatting with her was a little weird because before now i had never talked to her, i just knew her as the girl who looks at me in class. When we had nothing else to chat about, to my greatest suprise, Favour told me she is in love with me. It was weird and it made me really happy although i didn't really like her sexually or any other way. This was the first time a girl was telling something of that magnitude. I didn't know how to react, so i just told her thank you. "I think you are beautiful too" I added hoping it would make her feel good because it takes alot of courage for a girl to open up. ***** ***** ***** After class the next day, she walked up to me keeping a straight face, i guess she was just shy. She told me what she did was the first time she was ever telling a guy she likes him, which even made me more happier. I didn't like Favour at all and honestly i tried to but the more try to get close to her, the more i realized i wasn't attracted to her in anyway. I tried to force myself to make out or try having s*x with her but the more I try, the more i realized i don't want to. With time our relationship got sour, although she still liked me, she just stopped paying attention to me. Sometimes when i see in class, i feel pity but i just couldn't be who she wanted. **** ***** **** Then there was Esther, Esther had none of the Physical quality i wanted in a lady but i fell in love with her even before knowing her, talking to her or even knowing her name. She was the first girl I fell in love with in school. Her dress sene was amazing and she had the one of the most beatiful face i have seen. Esther was my senior colleague in school. I was in 100 level while she was in 200 level. I saw her every Tuesday because 100 level students uses the classroom by 10am while 200 level students uses the same classroom by 12am and our class lasts for 2 hours. Esther and her coursemates always wait outside until we are done with classes. Tuesdays became my jewel in the crown class day because i got to see her while she waits for her class. The moments she comes, the lecturers presence becomes unavailing to me because Esther crabs all my mindfulness. The feelings I had towards Esther grew very strong without even saying a single word to her. I searched for Esther on social media, texted her but i didn't receive any response from her and i sure didn't have the confidence to talk to her in person. I got comfortable admiring her from a far hoping it didn't have to be that way. I didn't have any plans of saying a word to Esther but i guess life knows how it brings people together. Towards the end of the second semester, the students president of my department, Accounting department announced that there would be a beauty pageant for both boys and girls. After some persuasions from some of my coursemates, i decided to pick a form for the Pageant. The whole process was amazing, i got to learn a lot of things but at the end of the day, the Pageant was just a means to exort money from ignorant freshers. The pageant was meant for all students of department of Accounting but most of the persons who picked the form where freshers, i guess our senior colleague knew what it was all about. In the course of the pageant we were given a link to share so we could get votes for ourselves as it would form part of our final score. I sent my link to Esther on social media and to my greatest suprise she replied with "Done". I was afraid of trying to push the conversation further. "Thank you very much" I replied with so much joy inside of me. The Pageant came and ended up as a failed event, the decisions makers couldn't agree on a particular winner. I guess they all had different interest, so it ended in a fight. The fight got so serious that the police were involved. Even if the fight didn't happen, i know I wouldn't have won, cuz no one had my interest. Damn!! I was disappointed, cuz I was hoping i would win or at least come out as the first runner up. That was the first major disappointment i faced in school. Thinking of the time and money i had spent for the pageant made me regret picking the form.
