ACE'S POV
After our shopping trip, Rayden called me in to look at some mistake he thought he had made. I was irritated for two reasons. First, there was nothing very complicated about the work I left for him. Not that he wasn't good at his job, it was that we didn't have much going on with the deal done. I wondered what he could have messed up. Second was the fact that I didn't want to break the promise I made to Karla. I told her we would spend the whole day together.
"Seriously, you can go." She said easily. I tried to read her expression, but she merely rolled her eyes and told me she was okay with it.
"But the promise I made to you."
"Wasn't broken on purpose."
"Honestly, though, I don't want to leave you alone."
