ALESSANDRO
Days I was Passed after our talk about Theodore and her blunt refusal for me to be a part of his life. I didn't plan on giving up. Giving up was just not in my dictionary.
I am determined to win and keep trying. Until my efforts would yield good results. Concerning her house, I already started making plans for that with her friend, Michael., We didn't involve her in any of them lest she lashes out and rrefuseslike always
She continued with her dedication to her work, although I observed she began to avoid our mandatory lunch, and not only that, she avoided me in particular. She was always in her office except for times she had to be with me in my office to work out details.
One sunny afternoon, she came to drop off some files I had requested on my table. I decided to use the opportunity to confront her about her avoiding me.
"Here are the files you requested, sir. She said, dropping the files in front of me. "I updated them and scheduled your next business meeting for two weeks, sir."
"Good. That's lovely." I nodded my head, pleased with her work. "That reminds me, you've been avoiding me. Haven't you?
My question surprised her, and I could see her fidgeting with her hands before answering.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are. Please don't deny it. You've been making silly excuses to run away from lunch, and you're always in the toilet these days. It makes me wonder if you lack bladder control." I said, stroking my beard.
"No sir, I haven't been avoiding you. That's all." She replied, almost void of emotion.
"In any case, you are accompanying me for a business proposal meeting at lunchtime. Don't think of objects, and I won't accept." I said, exerting an aura of dominance.
She left my office defeated while I gave myself a high five for succeeding in the first stage of my plan. It was soon lunchtime, and she was already in my office. I dismissed my driver, telling him I would drive to the meeting. Her facial expression was neutral, and she didn't even care.
As usual, the drive was quiet. Only the song playing on the radio in the car could be heard. We passed some neighboring streets. I guarded the car against a sharp turn into a street called "Avenue." I was heading in the direction of a particular house.
This house was amidst rows of ordinary-looking houses, a captivating residence with exquisite presence. The only one if it's kind.
Its grand facade boasts meticulous craftsmanship, with elegant arches framing the entrance and intricate carvings adorning the pillars. Red roses spilled from window boxes, adding bursts of color to the stately exterior. The neatly trimmed hedges and manicured lawn accentuated the house's regal charm, making it a beacon of beauty in the mundane surroundings.
"This isn't a venue for a business meeting." She said breaking the silence. "Where are you taking me to?"
"Calm down. I'm here to get some important files for the meeting." I replied as I parked the car in front of the gate.
I stepped out of the car, and so did she.
"Shall we enter?" I asked, leading the way. "Don't worry, I'm only here to pick up the file, and we'll leave soon."
I could tell she was convinced, but she followed me into the house anyway, which was what I had hoped for. I opened the door and guided her in.
"Surprise!!!" Michael and Theodore shouted simultaneously, scaring the life out of them. From my end, it seemed her heart was about to jump out of her body.
Slowly, her surprised look morphed into anger. Her eyes darkened as she turned towards me.
"What is the meaning of this?" She asked in a low voice, screaming danger underneath.
"Your new home," I replied, unfazed by her dangerous looks.
"You said we were going for a business meeting...you tricked me!!"
"That was the only way to get you to come. You've been avoiding me." I defended myself.
"Explain this, now!!" She ordered me.
For reasons that I cannot explain, she looked hot when she made that statement. My imagination kicked in, and a smile crept up on my face. I sat on a nearby armchair and crossed my legs like my boss.
"Well, I thought of doing you a favor and getting you a much bigger house. My son deserves to live someplace better."
"I am not accepting this from you." She said.
"Oh...but you will. I already bought this place, and as you can see, Michael and Theo have moved in."
At this point, she was fuming with anger. Her body movement, facial expression and the way her hands curled up into fists showed that she was distraught. She marched angrily towards Michael, dragging him by his ear along with her to some room. I overheard her scolding the poor man from the other room. He was going to get an ear full of insults. All I did was play with little Theodore while they sorted out themselves.
A few moments later, they came out. Isla had an angry expression, and Michael looked like a sad puppy, rubbing his left ear. She stood in between Theodore and I, glaring at me. If her eyes were daggers, I'd be a goner with the way she looked at me.
"Thank you for the house. I'll pay you back every penny and cent you used."
"You don't have to. I'll take my leave now, and you can have the rest of the day off to get used to the environment. I'll see you in the office tomorrow." I stood up and headed towards the door, shutting it gently behind me.
Phase one was a success. Even if she didn't want me in my son's life, I'd find a way. Slow and steady wins the race, after all. I would immediately begin plans for phase two.
On getting to the office the following morning, I had an inkling she would burst into my office to express her anger. That had always been her pattern for some time now. I knew she wouldn't come to my office unless she had to, but this time, I was proven wrong. It seemed she had been waiting for me to arrive in my office to unleash hell on me.
I was barely seated when she stormed into my office, her footsteps reverberating with purpose. With a swift and deliberate motion, she swept her arm across my desk, sending papers flying in all directions like confetti caught in a gale.
She forcefully pushed my table aside, creating a clear path to confront me. With clenched fists, she closed the distance between us in a heartbeat, seizing me by the collar of my shirt with a grip that spoke volumes of her seething rage.
"Why won't you stop interfering in my life?!!"
"You're the mother of my child; that's the more reason I need to interfere," I replied, not bothered by her display.
"I don't need your help!!" She gritted her teeth and pushed me to a nearby wall.
"Damn.." I couldn't help but say. "You are strong, Isla."
"That's not the point! I'm here to tell you to keep yourself and your help out of my life and my son's."
"How hard is it to accept my help?" I asked her, still pinned to the wall.
"I DON'T WANT YOUR HELP!!" She yelled, slamming my back against the wall.
She wasn't going to listen, no matter how much I kept trying to persuade her. In the blink of an eye, I swiftly swapped our positions so that she had her back pinned against the wall, and I held her neck with my other arm raised against the wall.
My face was an inch away from hers. I got to see her up close and was enthralled by her beauty. I took in every detail of her face, from her almond-green fleek eyes to her heart-shaped sculpted face with a distinct Nubian nose and thin lips. I brushed a strand of her ash-brown hair that fell across her face.
I could feel her heart beating fast, which was the same for me. It was as if a magnet was pulling us closer to each other. My hands brushed her cheeks lightly, causing her to feel a tingling sensation. Her cheeks turned crimson red as she stretched out her hands, circling them around my neck and pulling me closer for a kiss.
In the heat of the moment, our lips were about to smash into each other when the sudden knock on the door jolted us back to reality. Isla quickly pushed me aside, and she appeared to shake terribly and disoriented. My office was in complete disarray due to her previous display earlier. There was no way I'd let anyone in to meet my office that way.
I adjusted my shirt and necktie on my way to the door; my brows wrinkled together and formed a scowl. Before the person at the other end could knock again, I had to open the door. The dark expression on my face was enough to send cold chills down a person's spine, precisely my manager's reaction at the end of the door.
"What do you want?!!" I demanded furiously.
"I'm...I'm. here to give you this document, sir." The manager whimpered in fear.
I snatched the file in his hand and yelled at him to get out of my sight. He had just succeeded in ruining what would have been a special moment.
Our little escapade assured me that we might have a connection hidden within. And not just because we had a child together.
