NINETEEN Chloe Macbeth sat on her bed, clutching her teddy bear Jeremy to her chest. Jeremy was her best friend and she frequently held imaginary conversations with him, using him as a sounding board for her thoughts and fears. ‘I don’t know what to do, dumb bear. I’m hounded, stalked, threatened and there’s no f*****g way I can go to the police about it. ‘Why do you think you are being threatened like this?’ they’d ask. ‘Well, Inspector, it could have something to do with the fact that I murdered Donald and Janet Jarrett and then framed David Jarrett for the crime.’ ‘Oh, in that case, miss, I’m afraid there is very little we can do for you, but in the meantime if you’d care to step into this nice cosy cell whilst we draw up the charges against you. Yeah, that’s going to happen, right?’
