ONE HUNDRED FORTY-NINE When Grace and Emma got to Ivy Grigsby’s neat 1930s semi-detached house in Halldene, Ivy was waiting anxiously by the door and showed them into the front room. There was a two-seat settee in faded dark green velvet and two armchairs in the same fabric with a side table to each. A large-screen TV stood on a wooden TV stand and on the back wall a shelving unit housed dozens of Lladro or similar figurines, dogs, cherubs, peasant boys, a nativity scene, ballet dancers, a panda, an elephant and several figures of ladies in voluminous dresses from a bye-gone era.
