"Mum…" I snapped. "Who told you she is my girlfriend? I have not even met this lady. I did a good job and she felt grateful to call and thank me. That's all. I don't even know her. She is among the random people who needed help from our control tower. It happens I was on duty when she had a problem with my plane. I helped her to land safely. I have not met her before. You are making a mountain out of a molehill." "Chris, there is nothing like a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason." "Reason as in?" I interrupted her, thinking I had quashed the flame of words in her mouth. She paused and looked at me with eyes of, 'This is just the beginning.' "When are you introducing me to that fortunate Miss Chris?" I didn't know when I chortled and touched my nose. I looked at my mum again and her face couldn't stop amusing me. "Now it's not the call I just received, but Miss Chris." "Chris, why are you denying yourself the feeling of being in a relationship? I have waited so long, including your late dad. Did your late girlfriend cast a spell on you not to have another girl after she died? I need a grandchild." "So it's not a girlfriend again, it's now a grandchild," I giggled. "Mum, you are a comedian. Whenever I want to have fun, I just need to come close to you. You are so funny." She allowed me to settle my bubbling cheeks and after a few minutes, she said, "Give me your phone." I had no knowledge she was going to call back Taylor. I gave her the phone wholeheartedly and she started pressing the bottoms. "Mum, what are you doing?" I asked when she placed the phone on her ear. "What's the name of the lady that called you some minutes ago?" "Why are you calling her?" I stood up and wanted to take the phone from her. But it was too late, Taylor had already picked up the call. "Hi Sweetie, this is Chris' mother. My son told me what transpired today." "Yeah! Your son saved my life. I'm so grateful." "Good to hear that from you. Will it be nice to have you at my house tomorrow for dinner?" "Yes…" Taylor answered cheerfully even before my mom could finish her statement. She was very happy and wanted to meet me in person. "I'm Mrs. Judge Alice. I am waiting to see you at my house tomorrow evening." "Definitely, I will come. Please I want you to send me the address. My name is Taylor." "Taylor, I will do that right now." She ended the call. "Mum, who asked you to do that?" I stood up. "You didn't even ask for my consent before calling her. Have you met her before? Who told you I wanted to invite her to my house?" My mom didn't show any sign of regret. She folded her hands and stared at me, hopefully saying in her mind, 'When you are done, you will sit down.' "What a coincidence. Taylor! Wow, that's your late girlfriend's name." "Yes! Coincidence. It surprised me when I found out she also bore the same name. We do receive thank you calls now and then. It's not something new." "But I found this so spicy. Her last words to you took me off guard. She said if you have forgotten. 'You are the best thing that has happened to me." "Her heart is full of joy, that's why she said so, Mom." "I wish I was a young lady. Still searching for a mate. Guess what?" She asked with the movement of her waist. Her gesture was so engaging and my mind was far from what she had anticipated. "I would have asked you out. You are so handsome and gentle. Any lady who dates you will find it refreshing and comforting." "Really? Mom, you never fail to amaze me." I smiled. "I'm not playing. When it comes to relationship stuff, you seem reserved. Your late dad is not like you. He was more proactive." "Mum, enough of this is your relationship course. I have a tight schedule tomorrow. I better go and take my rest." "That does not mean you will not be available for tomorrow's dinner with Taylor." I stood and was walking toward the stairs when I said, "I wasn't the one who invited her." "Are you going to put me to shame before a stranger who called to thank you?" My mom was determined to follow me to my room as she walked closer to the stairs and wanted to follow me." "Okay! Fine, we both will welcome her tomorrow." My mom stood still and followed me with her eyes until I got to the top floor. "Why are you still staring at me?" I asked before walking toward my room. "Nothing!" She smiled. I knew that was a fat lie. ******************* Taylor's POV It was 5 PM and I needed to start getting ready to meet my hero and his mom. I felt an unseasoned joy inside of me. After entering the bathroom to take my bath, I heard a knock on my door followed by the voice of our maid. I couldn't reply to her because the shower was running heavily. The maid knocked again and when she did not hear my response, she left. About fifteen minutes later, I came out. As I was dressing up, I pressed the alarm button in my room to invite the maid and her name was Emma. I was straightening my hair with the electric comb when she knocked again. "Come in," I said and without wasting time, she opened the door. Emma was almost twice my age and I gave her the respect she deserved despite taking all my orders. "My lady, you call me." "Yes, I did." She was standing a few yards from my back. She wanted to assist me with my hair. "Don't worry. I'm almost done. I wanted to call my dad, but he sent me a message that he is in a meeting. So when he comes, tell him I went to see the mother of the man who saved me. Remember to get the dinner ready before my dad comes back." "I'm on it. That's what I'm doing now." "Okay, you may go and continue your cooking." Emma turned and left and I greased my lips in front of my mirror and my white towel was still on my chest. "What do I put on?" I said to myself as I opened the double doors wardrobe. My eyes fell to the left side. That was the position of most of my gowns. After scanning my gowns with the flip of my fingers, I stopped and took out a white straight gown with a touch of red. I placed it on my body and turned to the mirror to see if it goes with my ponytail. It was perfect and before I left the room with my bag, I wore a black neckband. When I got to my car. The first thing I did was to open my phone and check the address again in the message section of my phone. I started my car after adjusting myself to the driver's seat and drove away. Thirty minutes later, I stopped at a beautiful mansion. I cross-checked the address on my phone and I saw that I was in the right place. There was some level of anxiety that came upon me as I was about to open the door of the car and come down. This was the first time I will be setting my eyes on that man who saved me. I didn't feel this way when leaving the house. Though I have said to myself that I will give Chris a big hug for what he has done for me. This is what I will do no matter the level of anxiety. He deserved it. A few minutes later, I stood in front of the brown door and pressed the doorbell. I looked to the right side above the door and saw a CCTV camera and I sighed. Behold, the door opened before my eyes and for the first time, my eyes came in contact with 'my savior'. My brain gave me some free seconds to look at him. It was beyond my awareness that I stole some time gazing at him. He was tall and handsome like my fiance. The only difference was his deep blue eyes that consumed me for the very few seconds I saw him. To keep my promise, I took a step forward and embraced him. It was a haven as I pressed myself against him and dragged with my nose, the tuberose scent that emitted from his clothes. Coincidentally, he wore white sleeves and a red bolt tie. "Is that Miss Taylor," I heard his mom's voice and she increased her pace to usher me into the house.
